I could not open any jar with it. The plastic is too flexible to make the device effective. The design is good but the material from which it is made run is the device useless. Correction …..I expected the device do use a ratcheting motion to open the jar lid. After watching the video, I realized that squeezing the handle just tightens the grip on the cap and you must rotate the unit to loosen the cap. I apologize for my error.I’m a mechanical engineer and I’m embarrassed. I hope that North Carolina State does not revoke my mechanical engineering degree

Bought this for my spouse who has arthritis. When you lock the handle on the jar (or whatever you are trying to open) the grip head retracts and will not tightly grip the jar. A COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY. DO NOT BUY!!!

I bought this specifically to open Claussen pickle jars, which are very tight and hard to grip. It works, but the handle is thin and it bends a lot. So far this is working okay for my needs. I wish the handles were more rigid to get better leverage. The handles bend so much that they probably will break at some point.

I know that is a simple claim, but it is true! It is a great - and inexpensive - tool for removing lids from jars. As I get older, I find that manufacturers are putting lids on tighter than ever. 😉 But this is an indispensable tool for the kitchen. It is easy to use and removes lids of all sizes. Thank you!

Not strong enough to handle a wide salsa jar. Cheap plastic and not strong.

I can't say that there was anything I didn't like but I love the way this works. I can open jars that I couldn't open before. I love the price too. It opened without any problem. It's not real big either so it can be stored in a drawer.
