The Dew Heater Ring is custom fit for your 8" Celestron Schmidt-Cassegrain, EdgeHD, and RASA optical tube and permanently replaces your retaining ring to provide efficient heating across the plate and so you'll never be caught without it. The process is quick and easy. The ring is constructed of lightweight, durable aluminum. Its rigid frame supports the cable circuity and the telescope's Schmidt corrector lens. Plug the ring into an external 12V DC power source for consistent, continuous heat that will prevent dew from forming. The Dew Heater Ring features two storage clips on the ring to keep the power and thermistor jacks secure while accommodating the telescope's dust cover. Easy to install - follow the directions. I would run this with a few controller - lots of reports that this running on high will cause star optic abnormalities.It is effective at dew control even at low power use.

Installation on my 9.25 sct was straightforward. High quality design. Only issue i had was putting the scope cover back on. If you put your scope vertical it goes on easier.

I actually read the instructions before the package arrived, even though it seemed unmanly to do that. Installation was a snap. I bought it to replace the DIY heater made with Nichrome wire from a toaster and a cheap PCM controller from Amazon. It worked, but it lacked class. The Celestron heater works and has class.Dew is a nearly constant problem between the coastal marine layer and the radiation fogs from the Valley. I have heaters on all my scopes and "on" is the default position. Only one night's use so far, but it does look as if the Celestron heater ring is up to the job. The inline controller is smaller than the variable controller I was using, which makes cable routing much easier and neater.

For obvious reasons I like the addition for my telescope to stop dew from forming. I did not like having to bend one of two little cover pins to remove the existing secondary gaskets that secure the lens and then install this ring, I eventually broke of this pin when I attempted to realign the pin. The two pins are used to secure the telescopes front end cover over the secondary lens. Since both my 9.25" Edge HD OTA and the dew ring are both Celestron products one would expect that Celestron would have designed one, the other or both parts to accommodate the accessory without having to bend anything.

Paired with Celestron's Smart Dew Heater this thing just works. It looks nicer than my old plain plastic corrector plate holder as well.

I bought this and installed it. The installation requires removing the existing retaining ring for the corrector plate--which has to be done with the OTA angled up. However, a paper shield comes with it to cover the glass during the "surgery." It really just involves removing about 8 small screws around the edge of the Schmidt corrector, removing the plastic ring (with the Celestron name and OTA size printed on it), aligning the dew heater ring in its place, and then using a criss-cross pattern to tighten the screws evenly (just like putting the lug-nuts on a car wheel). That's it! Takes maybe 10 or 15 minutes with a phillips head screw-driver (smaller than standard size). No technical expertise needed. Then discard the original ring or keep it for sentimental reasons. I power it with one of these: ALITOVE DC 12V 5A Power Supply Adapter Converter Transformer AC 100-240V Input with 5.5x2.5mm DC Output Jack for 5050 3528 LED Strip Module Light that I also ordered on Amazon. I was worried about the amperage and also the connector. However the unit above has way more amps than the dew heater draws and the connector is completely compatible with the dew heater ring as well as all of my other astrophotography gear--so, I have several of these inexpensive power supplies (on black Friday sale right now, 2023-11-21) for just over $10) for mount, camera, and dew heater ring.

I have a very nice telescope. The problem is the condensation on the lens (all). I use it in central Florida at our retreat out in the country. The moisture is terrible for scopes at wee hours of the morning and I have not been able to use this wonderful scope ( all computerized) for over a year because of the parts I wanted were made in Russia by a small business i learned about on telescope Web sites, but the Russian war made it impossible to buy it until they moved part of their business to USA just for Americans. I saw this and could not wait to get it for my scope. Works like a Florida dream. Highly recommend if you watch the stars late at night for hours. Just have a good battery (deep cell) to keep your tele warm.

Lo usé en una sesión de observación, cuando se empezó a empañar lo puse a funcionar y en unos minutos el vidrio se limpió, asà que funcióna y protege del rocÃo, estoy conforme con la compra, muchas gracias
