Unlike other reviews I've read here, I wasn't looking to change-out all my switches as part of a restoration project on a older home. I just thought these were cool and wanted to add a touch of style and uniqueness to a room. Initially, my plan was to do the foyer - six switches. Well, my wife wasn't a fan of these - preferring the "rocker - decora" switches I just installed in the kitchen. So I went with two of these switches for the downstairs bath. My wife is now a fan! Here's some information I was looking for before I purchased...maybe you are too, so...1.)I ordered the Bronze Deco switch plates. They match great and complete the look perfectly.2.)The back of these switches is a bit chunkier than a standard switch. This can't be helped as it's needed to house the internal switch mechanism. However, you may want to take a look at the available space in your box. For my job in the foyer bathroom, the box actually had limited space. This made getting the alignment of the switches just a bit more tedious. With a push button design, you need to get them installed straight or it will look noticeably crooked.3.)wiring. I had never changed a switch or outlet prior to a few months ago. It's actually pretty easy. Find any number of videos on youtube. When they wired my house, the electrician "stabbed" all the switches - because it's faster. This means the wires are fed into little holes on the back of the switch instead of wired to the screws on the side. You can either cut the wires close to the old switch as possible or pull the wire out by inserting a nail into a small release hole below the hole the wire is in on the back of the switch. That's what I did - it takes a minute to get it just right. A wiring diagram is printed right on the box these switches come in. Be sure to switch off the breaker switch in the electrical /fuse box. Know the difference between the "line" and "neutral". Finally, I usually keep the old switch attached while I move wire by wire -removing one wire from old switch and wiring it to the new before moving onto the next wire.4.) Sound & feel. Good and good! The original switches like this made back in the 40's-50's were made out of a different more solid material that gave them a different feel and sound. While some may prefer that older sound, the fact is that material was not nearly as safe as the plastic used today. These sound good to me. There's a little "click" when they're turned on and off. It's pleasant enough and not twangy or cheap sounding - to me it's sounds pretty close to the original (had these in my childhood home -so literally have had years of hearing the sound. The sound of these is very close , if not spot-on)Very pleased with these switches and will likely add more to our home.

The pearl buttons look authentic and true to the style of our older home. Works great. I do prefer the dimmer style over this. But then again I don't need a dimmer in a closet.

Simple installation. Diagram for installing is on the box, could not be simpler. Looks great.

Pros: It's not a perfect original but that's probably a good thing. We have many safety requirements for modern devices so I feel safer with this one than with any restored original. Yes it's plastic but I think the original ones were bakelite which is basically highly flammable brittle plastic.Cons: I just with it took a little more force to push. It's not mushy but you can feel that the action is plastic internally.Got it with an oil rubbed bronze faceplate and my house is really starting to show it's age (in a good way).

We had all of our Knob and Tube wiring removed years ago, including the old switches. This item brings back the look we wanted for our home.

We've been ordering push button switches for 15 years from various manufacturers for restoration work.Ordered this vendors' products more recently. We found: 2 year old ones are wearing out; 1 year old stick between on/off; 3 month old short-circuited immediately upon installation.Looks like they're progressively diminishing quality to fatten profit margins on sweatshop-sourced stuff.Bad for consumer, bad for US trade deficit, good for lining the vendor's pockets.
