With its heavy duty, powerful 1500-Watt motor and 90 lbs. of torque, we are using this auger for multiple projects, including but not limited to post holes and relocating sapling evergreens. When my husband saw this he thought it would take two people to use it until I showed him the listing with a photo of a man using it by himself. After reading the specifications, I needed to order a heavier 14 gauge 200 ft. waterproof extension cord, as required by the auger, because the location for the holes is nearly 200 feet from our exterior house outlet. Now we are ready to use it to dig holes for the sapling trees we are relocating since fall is the best time for their transplant survival.Unfortunately, we have had a rainy fall with many delays and are working between the rain and now freezing temperatures. The only issue I can see is possibly having trouble with our mountain soil that has a lot of aggregate. It is hard to know what is down there, it can be good and bad, so the reverse function is very important and useful. Our next door neighbor has used gas powered rental augers successfully in the same type soil. If this auger can do the job we will be able to do a lot of landscaping and fencing next spring that we can’t by digging with hand shovels, In the meantime, when and if the rain stops over the next days, we will be using it for tree holes and I will update my review with the results.

In a pinch I've used these types of attachments on a power drill--obviously not ideal--but just for mixing. This tools securely locks the auger and has plenty of power to get going. You need a firm grip obviously, but this should handle most jobs unless you have very rocky soil.

Excellent product! Easy to assemble and easy to use. I have used it to loosen soil for tree planting and it works great. I live in the Ozarks, so my soil is fairly rocky, but the auger negotiated the job well only occasionally getting hung up on a larger rock. The reverse switch is very handy for backing out of the hole if needed. Recommend this product if you want to make quick work of digging jobs around the house.

This electric post hole digger was able to get through topsoil and limestone to put in 6x6 posts for an outdoor kitchen. You need to hold on to it and keep it from twisting your wrists. It's got a lot of power and torque.

This is a powerful electronic auger for digging fence posts and other similar small, short holes. It has a lot of power and is quite durable for something that is powered with electricity. It is easy to use, especially after you take a moment to get used to how it feels and the amount of power coming off it.This item is absolutely huge, bigger than those manual post hole diggers that are very common. It can cut through dirt of almost any density, and it's unique screw design allows it to push even the stickiest mud away so it doesn't get clogged up while trying to bore into the ground. It is a big purchase and a large item to store and keep track of, but it will pay off in spades when you realize how quickly you can create small holes.To test the product I dug a few holes close together to create a larger hole for an inground fire pit. It worked so well and did not seem to lose power no matter what I did. This product is a must-have for anyone in the fence or landscaping business and is incredibly powerful.

We have land that is a mostly a sandy loam, with a decent amount of pebbles mixed it. As expected there is some kick back if you hit a good size rock, but overall, this is a solid piece of machinery that gets the job done. We also have portions of our land that is much more rocky and this does not do well in that particular terrain. Having said that, I don't know that I would expect an augur to tackle this kind of solid rock and requires more of a strong jack hammer/drill type machine. The motor remains cools after digging a half dozen fence post holes (the most we've done in a row) and the reverse feature works nicely.

I love using my post holes as much as the next guy, but when I saw this unit I thought “what if I didn’t have to give myself back pain putting in a fence post?â€.This unit, as many have stated, is great! Super easy and basic assembly, just put the bit on the motor and insert the pin. Just eas easy to use, with big handles that are easy to hold on to. Before on larger fencing projects I would take the time to rent a unit, but this now sits nicely in my shed and I can just throw it on the trailer with the generator and go anywhere I need on the farm and throw up a fence.The unit feels heavier duty than I was expecting so I expect it should last for a while. And it’s very maneuverable over bigger gas units so I just need to slip the unit and extension cord where I want some new fence post without having to clear brush all around.I’m really happy with this unit and so is my back. My post hole digger shovel said it was cool and enjoys a break. :)
