It measures angles and it does it well. I use it to check the angle on my miter saw.

Seem nice enough! Doesn't always repeat exactly to the same measurement, but very close!

This 7"/200mm angle finder protractor comes in black with a digital LED and a locking rotating knob. The two flat rulers each have an imperial and metric scale on them but do note that the first two inches on one is obscured due to the digital display. There is a protective tab to slide out from the battery compartment to get the protractor to work which acts to protect the battery from draining before use. There is a little notch on the Led display that one must push in to get the battery compartment to slide open to be able to replace the CR2032 battery. There is one already installed, and the unit does come with one replacement as well. The three buttons work just fine on the LED display to zero the measurement, hold a measurement reading, and to turn the unit on and off. Note that if the unit is pressed off, it comes back on automatically if the rulers are moved from the current position. The auto shut-off time of six minutes seems like an awfully long time. The locking knob does work reasonably well, although it feels like a screw being tightened and loosened inside. I am leery to overtighten so it doesn't strip the screw inside, but it is a balancing act as it has to be fairly tight otherwise the angle will move. Each ruler is only 1.2mm thick and they will flex some if I try to bend them, but otherwise the ABS plastic does seem like it will hold up over time. The 0.05-degree measurement seems a little superfluous as it only shows 0 or 5, so probably a 0.1-degree measurement would have been fine. The angles I test measured matched with my other digital metal angle finder measurements very well, so the measurements seemed reliable. Overall, this is a good value digital locking protractor.

It is accurate. It's a bit flimsy feeling but it works well. For the price I'm giving 5 stars.

I should have purchased on of these a long time ago. As an avid DIY'r, I've done numerous finish trim project where I simply "assumed" my wall corners were 90 degrees. There were many times when my miters seemed slightly off and looking back I'm sure it was because my corners were not exactly 90.I've got a big sailboat building project in the works and there are all kinds of crazy non-90 degree corners that I'll be dealing with. Being able to quickly and accurately measure angles is going to be critical to a good outcome on that project. This is a good size, which fits easily in a tool bag or in a pocket. It comes with a battery plus a spare, and I was super happy to see it is the common 2032 size. The inches scales has units down to the 32nd of an inch. and there is also a scale in mm. I like the the angle can be "locked" down to make transfers easier but the same knob also offers easy adjustment.Overall, a good tool. If I had one suggestion it would be to have a single button that you could push to split the angle in half for setting a miter...and maybe a backlit display but that's just nitpicking. I'd say good value at this price point.

This is an affordable and accurate angle gauge suitable for home DIY and hobbies. Instructions are on the back of the box. Operation was easy and it has some nice features too. First fold both so they are parallel and turn it one, press zero. Move arms to desired angle, press the HOLD/Rev button to lock the measurement. If you move the arms while in hold mode the angle does not update. Press again to exit hold mode. If you are in some awkward position measuring something and the display is upside down, hold the HOLD/Rev button for a few seconds until the display flips so you can read it! The included spare battery was a geat addition to the package. The arms are not metal, but they are made from durable ABS and based on the texture it looks like it might be fiber reinforced. The measurement markings are accurate but they are just silk screen printed, they will likely wear off over time, especially with heavy use. The arms have a hole so you can hang them on a nail or peg for storage.

While this unit does work, and seems accurate, I have a couple of reservations. First, the actual ruler arms are made from circuit board material, not metal or plastic. It doesn't feel especially flimsy, but it's not really what FR4 is made for.It also never truly shuts off. Even when you've pressed the power button, you can see the screen is still on, despite being blank. When you move the arms, it immediately wakes up. I can't measure how much power it uses in standby, but I'm sure it's a nontrivial amount. For this reason, I always put the tab back in the battery compartment or remove the battery when I'm not using it.Those things aside, it's perfectly functional. It seems very accurate when measuring an angle. Amusingly, it will measure higher than 360 degrees if you keep rotating it, up to 999.9 degrees. That may be useful to somebody at some point. I also do like that you can flip the screen, by holding the HOLD button for ~3 seconds.Due to the price, I can't really can't fault it too much. If it were any more expensive, I'd probably knock it down to three stars. It's perfectly functional, just be aware that it's not going to be durable enough for shop use.
