The internal depth is approximately 1/8th inch. It fits the valve but you won’t be able to leave it in position

I had been using a 4-way silcock wrench on the two outdoor faucets since breaking both plastic handles this winter. The faucets fit the 5/16" socket, and the wrench goes on deep enough to stay on the faucet. When these keys first came, I thought they did fit, except for some reason they would not stay on the faucet. What I realized is that the way they are manufactured, the have metal from joint inside, and they would go on the faucet only up to that joint. So, just barely fitting on the end of the faucet, won't stay on, and likely to eventually damage the faucet since just on the very end of the square valve shaft. Tried grinding the joint metal to widen them internally, but not having much luck. Total waste of money! !
