Rugged and lightweight. Perfect for a day of rock hunting when you need something more than a hand pick.

Lost my old estwing rock hammer and found this while searching for a new one. There’s only one thing to know…. If you by any estwing anything it’s gonna last forever. I have my 96 year old father’s estwing claw framing hammer from the ‘40s. If it’s not stolen or you lose it you’ll have it forever.

It's a great pick but it is very heavy for its utility for back country prospecting. I bought one and I use it mainly to trim specimens at home now.

I am not surprised at all that Estwing makes a good rock pick. I have used it now on at least 5 separate outings where I went mineral collecting (including a one week long trip exploring old silver mines). It makes short works of packed dirt and old mines dump rock pile. I can already tell that this is a durable and versatile tool that will last me a very long time.My only disappointment is that the eagle logo on the tool is a sticker and not an engraving. Such a cool logo but the second you put the tool to good use the sticker wears off.

The pick already has chips out of the paint in a few places, and the point seems to be blunted to the side. I’m not sure if it was damaged during shipping or what, but the handle seems to have been made in a hurry as well. It looks like it’s unfinished, possessing a weird fuzz-like coating where it should have been cleaned after it was shaped. Not sure if I’m comfortable keeping it at this point, so I don’t have much to say regarding functionality, except that the description says the pick is for breaking rocks, which would be difficult with a pointed tip, this tool seems better suited for digging and prying. The magnets all seem to be present and functional. Regardless, the price is far too high considering the poor condition.Update after multiple uses: All that being said, the pick works great for digging through rocky soil and prying. Upped to a 3 star review because of the performance.
