Works perfectly! Install some finger pulls in MDF mirrored slider doors using this Freud PB-013 Precision Shear Forstner Drill Bit 1-3/4-Inch. Used the bit in a cordless hand drill. Only took about 30 seconds to drill each hole. Bit did not grab at all and did not chip the finish on the face of the doors. Made perfect holes and the fit to the finger pulls was nice and tight. Bit is razor sharp and after drilling four doors is still razor sharp.

I needed to countersink a hole exactly 1 3/4 round, and 3/16 deep. Using the forstner bit allowed me to complete this project in a proper fashion. Precision made, resulting in exact size countersunk holes.

I am building a pergola out of redwood. I needed a Forstner bit for drilling some flat bottomed holes in the gussets for the construction lag screws. I wanted a nice clean hole and it had to be 3 inches deep. I didn't trust trying to do these holes with a spade bit. Since Redwood is soft, I got cheap and purchased a Ryobi Forstner Bit Set at Home Depot. They were junk and did not produce a clean hole. Also, they were not that sharp. I have purchased a number of Freud router bits over the years and they are always good quality. I found this bit on Amazon and it was the perfect size. It costs twice as much as the entire Ryobi set (8 bits) but I would do it again in a second. This bit is sharp and very nice quality. I just finished the last hole in the last gusset and it cut them all beautifully. You can't go cheap if you want a quality tool.

I've long been a fan of Freud cutting tools, they are super sharp and they last. The photo shows a 1 3/4 inch hole cut by their Forstner bit. This is walnut plywood and would tear out easily with anything less a great edge. So performance wise this is a 5 star product. I took off a star because they package these things in thick plastic (non recyclable) clamshell style enclosures that require heavy scissors to cut open and if you're not careful you'll cut yourself as well.

I needed a large Forstner but to make a jig. Drills a nice clean hole through 3/4 plywood

Freud forstner bits are excellent. Had to cut through bourbon oak barrel stave and they do an excellent job. Clean cuts, and the bit stays sharp even after dozens of cuts. Although a bit pricey, if you need to ensure the job is done right and clean, I recommend a Freud bit.

Really liked that these drills were very controllable and with my one speed 12v drill I was able to go through 1.5 inches of birch wood butcherblock. As others have said in reviews just take it slowly. When the drill gets to the bottom it will lock up. Pull the drill out a bit, clean out the wood flakes and resume and watch the drill for heat. I stopped for a couple of seconds midway to let the drill cool a bit - really not designed for this I know. Keep the speed as low as you can at first. Slight angle helps establish the bite of the blade.I used the 1.75" bit for 2 holes and saw no change in action from the drill bit. Same with the 1.25" bit. Well worth the investment knowing it can manage a reasonably hard wood.

Clean and fast cutting. sometimes more expensive than the Chinese stuff but I drill a lot of holes and there is no comparison. In the photo there are 3-4 different brands of Forstner bits and I wouldn’t buy any of them again (Irwin, Wen, Steelex, etc.) and definitely not any of the off brand Chinese stuff, UNLESS it is a one-off and you are only going to use it once. Stick with Freud or Fisch, which is comparable to Freud.

I've bought a few of the "Freud" brand forester bits and I've been impressed with the quality and durability of all of them. I bought the 1 3/4" this time and it's very sharp and well-made.

Used this to install pulls on pocket doors. Got 2 done. By 3rd one I almost had to jump on the drill to get it doing with all the force I had to put on. All the contact points were dull, cout run fingers on it with zero risk of getting a cut. Very surprised, usually a very good brand.
