This review is for GE SunSmart Digital in-Wall Timer 32787. Easy to install. Make sure your electrical box has a neutral wire before ordering. Installed this to control our front porch light. The light has a photocell in it but is in an area that gets little sunlight especially on cloudy days, so it sometimes stays on all day. This switch solved that problem. We live in the Pacific Northwest so have very long dusk and dawn. Dusk and dawn don't really describe when the light should be turned on and off. It should be sunrise and sunset which would better describe when the light should cycle. Set ours to turn on 5 minutes before sunset and turn off 5 minutes after sunrise. Just Google to find when sunset and sunrise times are in your area. FYI, dusk and dawn times are not the same as sunset and sunrise times. Not sure why all the complaints about programming. I had no issues at all programming the switch following the instructions provided. To avoid frustration, make sure to read and understand the instruction before installing, setting up and programming the switch. The instructions are actually very well written. I found it was easy too setup and program. There is one major error in the instructions which could be confusing. Right above "A. Programming the ON/OFF days" it states "Setting the dawn/dusk region (zone):". This line should not be there and describes the previous step.Main thing is, don't confuse the "PRG" button with the "SET" button. The "SET" button is only used for initial setup of Time, Year, Month, Day, DST (on/off), Zone, Dusk (time), Dawn (time) and to select and set to memory settings in the programing steps. For programming there are 7 "PRG" that can be used. I only used "PRG 1" since all I want is to turn the light on and off at sunset and sunrise and nothing more. Press "PRG" until the PRG number you want to use is displayed and then press "SET". Now select the days using the arrow keys. There are 6 preprogrammed to use or also individual days. I used the one that displayed "MO, TU, WE, TH, FR, SA, SU", and pressed "SET" too select it. Then using the arrow key to scroll to "DUSK" for the on time and press "Set" which than goes to the off time. Then using the arrow key scroll to "DAWN" and pressed "SET". That's it, programming completed. It may be a good idea to make sure PRG 2-7 are empty of all settings if you do the same type of setup as I did.Found it was easy to program the switch on the workbench before actually installing it in the electrical box. The back light does not turn on if not installed but the LCD screen is still easy to read. Also, the instruction sheet that comes with the switch requires a microscope to read. Googled the part number and found the online PDF instruction sheet. It too has pretty small print. Used my computer and zoomed in on the pages needed, took screen shots and printed them so they could be read clearly during setup and programming.

It took me once or twice to set it up, but it was pretty simple and it works great. My question is can the blue light always stay lit up. When working on it the blue light stays bright and blue when done it fades away. Or is that the way it supposed to work? Looking to keep blue light on all time. Not a problem if it can’t.

Purchased: 06 Apr 2022Installed: 07 Apr 2022Reviewed: 11 Apr 2022It took me at least a year to purchase an astronomical light switch because I had to do an extensive research on various digital timers (several manufacturers). I've read many reviews online and finally took a plunge and purchased this GE SunSmart here on Amazon. I chose this and only purchased one so far to try it out. My intention is to purchase at least 6 of these to install in our house (mainly to control outdoor lighting). This is definitely a good-looking digital timer. The install was straightforward (PLEASE read the written instructions thoroughly because the online video instruction left out other important details). This GE SunSmart also came with 2 Neutral (white) jumper wires approximately 6" long. This was a PLUS because I actually had to use one of the neutral jumper wires.Once finished with wire connections, I encountered a major headache. The actual body of the GE SunSmart is a tad taller than the original single-pole switch I replaced. The metal electrical/gang box was installed in 1986. I tried various ways to make the digital timer fit inside the box. I finally was able to fit (somewhat, not perfect) the timer inside the box after using a "file" to slightly shave the metal of the box. It's definitely an extremely tight fit but I somehow managed to get it inside the box.I'm giving this GE SunSmart 32787 a 4-Star rating partly because the dimensions provided in the product description did not provide the actual height dimension of the digital timer's body. It just provided the total height of the entire unit. I didn't ask the Amazon Community about the dimension of this digital timer's body because I'm pretty sure, they will have to physically uninstall the timer to be able to measure it---that is just not going to happen. My persistence afforded me to find a solution to make this digital timer fit in the box (yes, it took several days, but it's done). The other issue I'm somewhat disappointed is that I had the impression that programming this digital timer to come on and off (dusk to dawn) was by inputing your GPS coordinates (latitude & longitude). Well, this was not simply the case. You had to choose from one of these options (NOR, CEN, SOU, ALASKA and HAWAII). Our timer is approximately 30 minutes late when lights come on after sunset. There's a way to add/modify this dusk-to-dawn setting but I opted not to bother because programming this digital timer is not very intuitive. It's probably because this GE SunSmart timer provides so many programming options. Based on my research, most astronomical digital timers suffer from unintuitive design.I was going to take a gamble on purchasing a different digital timer but decided to stick with the GE SunSmart because I was able to find a workaround solution with the "fit" issue. I also want to keep the same "switch" design for simplicity's sake.

as an electrician I have installed about 10 of these for different uses including outside lights, inside lights and off label use. they have been reliable, fast to install vs a timer and light sensor combination in a fixture. I have had no callbacks on them.

Just received the switch for my garage. I recently updated to led lights and other switches wouldn’t work until I purchased this motion switch.Easy to install and working great so far on these cold Canadian winter nights when I have to grab something from the garage.

Surpris satisfait de mon achat j’ai acheté ce produit pour une petite salle d’eau la détection était trop sensible. Après vérification j’ai découvert que l’interrupteur est muni de toutes les ajustement nécessaire pour un bon fonctionnement.
