It fit perfectly. The balancing unit is better than Kohler's for keeping the hot and cold balanced perfectly. I am going to buy another one to keep on hand.

First time I removed the mixer front plate, I didn't turn off the water. It resulted in a comical blasting of all value internals out into the shower. No worries, close the door and turn the water off!I ended up buying a this knockoff valve. all things considered, was a little dicey. It was $32 at time of purchase, and i could buy a OEM one from HD (mailed) for $55ish.The knockoff looked slightly different, but it came with x2 o-ring sets, silicon lubricant, and a small piece of sandpaper to scour the valve internals.I lightly sanded the back side of the valve, looked for gunk (didn't see any), and first verified a good fit (without opening the lubricant, in case i needed to return). it seated correctly after threading on with two beefy phillips screws (included). After which, I watched the kohler video on how to do the install. Instructions were totally valid for knockoff. I applied the included lubricant to all o-ring surfaces for good luck, and assembled the valve. I had the red temperature stop indexed to the top, so when the valve closed counterclockwise, it would stop at 12oclock.Leak check passed.I verified temperature with a thermometer with factory temp settings, It clocked in at 117F. Close enough for now. I reattached the trim plate and handle.Done and dusted.

I can not recommend this product. I tried to save a few bucks and it wasn't worth the hassle. The brand new valve dripped worse than the one I was replacing. It did fit and does seem an exact replacement for the Kohler k-304, however it defeats the purpose if a valve will not completely shut off the water flow.Replaced with a genuine Kohler and problem solved.Just a note, this listing does not have many reviews, but I found a different listing for what appears to be the same knock-off with more reviews, and others are reporting the same issue. This seems to be a common issue with this item, so my recommendation would be to just cough up the extra $25 and get the real deal.

I used to replace a failing valve on a Kohler Devonshire stand up shower handle. Worked perfectly. One suggestion…it may be difficult to remove the white threaded collar that the shower handle threads onto. Remove the entire valve, screw or down to a board and pop the white collar off with a flathead screwdriver. It will come right off. Your welcome. ;)

I just installed this last week. All the parts were there that I needed. The only reason I don’t give this five stars is because there’s no way to determine which way is the top or bottom. Of course, when I installed it the first time being, I could not tell a difference, I had it upside down. That led me to have to uninstall it after turning the water back on and reinstalling it. It only took me another 5 to 10 minutes, but just having a marker or tag showing this side up would’ve saved me that problem.

No instructions, but go to YouTube for full removal and installation video. The valve part looks different than the original valve, but seals and works fine.

The pressure balancing piece doesn't list which side is "cold", but I just slid it into the valve box and it worked. Either I guessed right or perhaps it doesn't matter on this one? Also, this looks slightly different than the pressure balancing piece I had in previously, but it worked fine.
