After never getting the big box door closer to fully close without slamming I searched for an alternative. This one looked the best, especially for the price. They came in a couple of days. I chose the 2 unit option as that was what was on the door. Instructions for the hold open unit were great and it went in with no problem. The instructions said to repeat steps for second unit. That dos not work. It took a some not too bad of figuring out.I could have installed the new units directly into the old brackets but the new ones were more heavily constructed. One setup, the closure works as advertised. The step on the hold open is a great addition. Plus the door now closes completely with no slamming. I've ordered another for another storm door whose closure works OK but does not have the hold open button.

Our daughter stopped using our front door because the storm door kept hitting her in the back on the way out. Got this dual cylinder system for the storm door to replace old standard dual cylinder from another brand and had it professionally installed. This is so, so much better. Even though the price difference isn't all that much as compared with other closers, this set is everything the others are not. It works so smoothly, no hitting people when they leave yet is easily powerful enough to solidly close the door without excessive speed, force or slamming. I engaged the professional because I wanted to make sure there wasn't something simple I had missed with the first system which would have made the regular system perform much better, i.e. close securely yet not so fast as to hit people. The professional (who really is) despite numerous adjustments on the old system could never get it to work the way I thought it should--to simply close the storm door slowly enough to avoid hitting people and at the same time, be powerful enough to close and latch the door 100% of the time. With the other brand of standard cylinders, they were either too fast and slammed or too slow and not strong enough to actually latch the storm door securely every time (which is necessary when you have grandchildren and pets) whereas this set could be adjusted to close perfectly--slow enough to avoid hitting people but also firmly enough to securely latch the door every time. But that is less than half the reason to get this system. The real advantage comes in the the push button engagement for the cylinder lock "stay open" feature. The difference is simple but significant and this system is simply way easier and less complicated to use. Instead of having to stoop down and bend your back to reach your hand down to engage a fiddly ring (likely to have dirt on it after a period of use) and then slide it out to where you want, you simply step on a button on top of the bottom cylinder (or push the button with your hand) and it's locked. To unlock, you simply open the storm door a bit wider and that automatically disengages it and again there is no awkward stooping down to slide the ring past the fiddly "collars" at the end. This may seem trivial at first but if you have to do this often, it begins to make much more of a difference over time. For people who need to lock open a door frequently (as we do because we have a bunch of pets and Chewy delivers probably 3 x's a week), I myself am surprised at how much difference the extra convenience really makes. My wife thought it was a luxury frivolity but having used it now for a while I disagree. It's simply making something the way it should have been made from the start by everyone. Rarely does one product perform so much better than everyone else's and at the same time also save so much extra unnecessary work, time and frustration. This is a situation where this product stands above any other I've had and I totally recommend it. I wish I had installed it years ago. It's a night and day difference. Also, don't be tempted to save a few bucks and buy a single cylinder system, even this brand's. The reason is not power, but simply imbalance of stresses and forces. A dual system at the top and bottom balances the forces and simply works way better, especially over time and at times of stress like high winds. Single cylinders put all the stress on the top and bottom and can warp the door or cause uneven wear to the hinges and just aren't going to ever work as well, especially over the long haul. Also, I can't overstate the added convenience of having to simply push or step on a button on the top of the bottom cylinder to engage the stop function as opposed to having to stoop down every single time you need to lock the door open to fiddle with those rings and then to release them having to stoop again to slide them all the way back in as opposed to avoiding any stooping and just opening the door a little wider and having it automatically release. If more people realized how much better this system is than the standard ones, these would be flying off the shelves. One of my favorite products and I generally only review things I love or hate. I love this one. I honestly didn't think it would make that much difference but it does--I no longer get stressed whenever the pet food supplies arrive because I know I can just step on a button instead of all the stooping and fiddling. For people with bad backs or just generally older people, this is really a convenience and pain reducer. If anyone has an older parent dealing with pets or anyone needing to lock open their door frequently but also needing it to be 100% reliable in securely closing and latching the door, this would make a great gift. One of my favorite purchase on Amazon so far. Also, unless you are really handy, if you have the money hire a professional. You'll save a lot of time and stress.

Installation was easy - but I had to use the existing door jamb brackets as the screw hole spacing was about 1/4" wider. Works well. easy to adjust. Good value..

These are exact replicas of the closers that came with my Larson doors. And they were way cheaper than the Larcon part and a little cheaper than Lowes.

Same brand as my original that has lasted 14 years. Perfect fit and work perfectly. My old ones after so many years would not dampen the closing and were just worn out. I am pleased with them and already have another set in my cart to order for the other door. They come with all the brackets and hardware even though i did not need it. Highly recommend this brand. I had looked at others at Lowes and a comparable set would have been over 20.00 more.

Like the headline says, worked great but quickly turned into a complete piece of useless scrap metal. This product is so bad, the manufacturers are bordering on the criminal. To anyone reading this review that’s considering this product, do yourself a favor and just read the reviews by date (recent). Something has happened with this company that has caused them to churn out overpriced trash. Avoid!
