After 5 years of having the wrong ones in our pool and the builder of the pool doing a poor job of finishing the job correctly, we finally figured out the right covers and screws for our inground pool.

I was tired of having to free up my stuck pool vacuum. My 25 year old drain covers were badly broken and the edge of the vacuum kept getting stuck. More importantly, chunks of plastic had broken off my old covers and I was worried someone would cut a toe or get one stuck in there. These were a perfect replacement for my Hayward SP1048 drain covers. At first, I didn’t even know the part number until I did a web search for Hayward drain covers and the picture popped up of my originals with the part number. I then searched the part here and these popped up. I bought two to replace the original ones after seeing reviews with pics like mine. Took a few dives with my goggles to unscrew the old ones and install 2 of these. I used the original screws, but these new ones come with screws if you need them. The screw hole spacing is an exact match and they fit perfectly. These are OEM and made from sturdy plastic. I like how these have more and smaller holes compared to the old - definitely an upgrade without the upgrade price tag. I’m perfectly happy with these and the value for the price. Now I don’t need to worry about cutting my toe anymore!

I have a 90s era pool with Hayward components. The drain covers in the spa portion of the pool slowly broke over time. These are a perfect fit to replace the old, very different looking ones. I left the old ones in the picture so you can see if it looks like what you have. Even the screws that came with it fit the old system.

The old Hayward flat drain cover with its twist-in tabs, which measure 7-7/8" diameter, are now no longer available (see pictures). You can replace it with the Hayward WGX1048E drain cover along with the Hayward WGX1048B 7-7/8-Inch Vinyl Ring. The vinyl ring twisted into the pool's drain hole nice and snug. The Kreepy Krauly pool cleaner does not get stuck on the replacement ring/cover combo because the domed cover does not allow the cleaner's suction to seal on the drain hole. Sadly, Leslie's Pool Supplies does not sell these items.

I bought this online after visiting my local pool supply to replace a two decade old cover. The one they had looked just like this one, but was triple the cost. The difference here was this one doesn't have the EXACT bolt pattern of my old unit.If you are handy, and have a drill, it takes a few seconds to mark and drill a pair of new holes to match the old cover's pattern. Just be sure to drill a countersink to fit the head so it sits flush, you don't want to the vacuum or your toes to get caught on it.It saved me over $40 and it looks fine though my crystal clear water.

This fit my 1992 Hayward suction with a yellowed plastic cover from the early 1990’s. I had been worried this was an older application than they had anticipated when stating compatibility. I should have used a couple of 10d finishing nails as alignment pins when I set out to install this at the bottom of a filled pool. I spent 15 minutes frustrating myself trying to feel the screw finding the hole. Blunt tip plastic screws don’t give enough tactile feedback to make that practical under water. Just put the 10d finishing nails in the screw holes, put the cover over the nails, then one at a time replace nail for screw and tighten.
