This is a genius tool. Works great for paint chip repair and dust nibs in clear coat. The file flattens out the rock chip filler without damaging the surrounding original paint. I am impressed.

I bought it to repair rock chips in my car paint as I saw on a popular video platform. Can this scratch your car? Yup it sure can. It takes a minute to get a feel for it and listening is important (the pitch goes up when you are doing something bad). The only downward pressure should be the weight of the file (pro tip: don’t use the handle). Your goal is to keep the file parallel to the paint to knock off the high spots. Last step is to break out the polish to buff out the scratches you created while learning. This tool is the step left out of most paint chip fixing videos and it is crucial… unless you are feeling brave enough to break out the sand paper.

The handle is not very comfortable, and in general, it is a piece of an ordinary metal file.For such a small thing it would be nice to have a ring for fastening.

Incredibly useful and precise tool for de-nibbing finishes. This is specifically for that one or two or three little defects in your finish. If it's used properly it will not change the sheen. It will simply shaved off the raised areas caused by the contaminant. For issues with roughness caused by dust, we use a trizac pad from 3M.
