Hope this is helpful, since sizing seems to be very confusing. I know nothing about plumbing, but was able to replace this spout myself quite easily. The following info would have come in handy when trying to decide which spout I needed, though:1. The length of the spout from end to end is 5.5 inches (see picture below). Yes, this fact is in the product description, but I'm making this clarification because you never know which measurements the merchants are giving you.2. The pipe sticking out from your wall must be 4.0 inches in length. This is the distance from the flange to the end of the pipe (or from the wall if you don't have a flange). I'm guessing that your pipe can be up to 4.25 inches long, since in my case not all of the thread was used and it could have been tightened to go in about a quarter of an inch further (see picture below).3. This spout will fit a 1/2 inch pipe with IPS (Iron Pipe Size) threads. The 1/2 inch refers to the INSIDE diameter of your pipe. In case you're wondering, your pipe doesn't have to be made out of iron, it can be PVC, copper, or what have you, as long as it has the IPS threads (I think this is the most common type).4. All you will need is a pipe wrench and some teflon tape. Or you can use any type of tool that will help you tighten the spout. You might even be able to do it with your hands.I'm giving this spout 5 stars because of its looks and ease of installation. The price seems to be about the same as everywhere else. As far as durability, I have no idea, since I just installed the thing a few nights ago, but will update if necessary. This review applies to a Moen 3800 Diverter Spout in Chrome purchased here on 31-Jan-2018.

We kept buying the cheap diverters at Ace only to have them fail and send half our water literally right down the drain. When I first opened the box I was wondering if this one was any better, then I looked at the inside and could see the difference.Once installed, the difference was immediately noticeable. We get full pressure at the shower head with virtually no water escaping at the spigot. Well worth the premium!

Our shower had a loud whine that was quite annoying. The old one had internal crud and corrosion. Playing with the valve did not help, so replacing the diverter spout was the right thing to do. It's now nice and quiet. I used a strap wrench to unscrew the old one and tighten the new one. The strap wrench is made for oil filters and can grip very tightly without scratching the new spout. This spout was higher cost, but it's good chrome-plated metal. No one was ever sorry they bought quality.

Works fine. Fairly simple. There isn't a lot to elaborate. Unscrew the old spout (may require assistance of a wrench). Once removed, apply some plumber's tape to the fitting. Install the new spout and hand tighten. Apply a little caulk on the top. It's a simple, cheap fix for a leaky spout.

Looks great on the outside but the internals are cheap plastic parts. Mine literally fell apart after only 2 years of mild use. Plastic diverter fell out in pieces. I expect more from Moen, I paid more to get a spout that would last.

Easy to install, same design as the one I replaced, which means it fit the same against the tiles. Not sure what to say about internal components. I find a lot of fixtures these days are using plastic for internal parts instead of metal, which usually means a shorter life span. My old one had a metal water diverter.

It installed easily and seems to be of much better quality than the spouts available from the local home improvement centers. With my water, I find chrome usually begins to peel after a few years. This one has only been installed a few weeks. We'll see what happens.Update: It's been a couple of years, and this spout still looks new! Much better than the Danco spouts.Update 2: After 3 years, this spout failed! It lasted longer than the Danco. However, the diverter mechanism isn't very good, and it kept binding up. My hard water didn't help, but the mechanism is only held onto the handle at a single point. That allows it to pivot around and bind up. Finally, the handle let go and I can no longer use the shower. It's sad to see such a nice metal spout fail due to a weak connection at the valve.

I had previously replaced the internal diverter on my Moen spout several times at a cost almost equal to the entire unit under review and it never quite sealed as well as it should have. I purchased this unit on the hope it would solve the issues experienced with the diverter replacement. Problem solved! It was easily installed and works like new. I will never again replace the diverter but will (if ever needed) purchase this complete spout assembly again. Highly recommended.

the right size to replace a Moen Caldwell tub spout that was leaking at the diverter. Fixed the problem.

Good quality. Tried a cheaper alternative and the internal threads cracked and caused a huge mess inside the wall. This one was super sturdy and and screwed right on.

This Moen diverter spout came in what looks like an open box, pretty beat up with the box flaps ripped. The spout was loose inside, had no packing or plastic sleeve or instructions, and covered in several prominent fingerprints. But since I urgently need it installed and there was no obvious sign of damage, so I kept it. The installation was quick & easy, and it seems to work fine so far. Under normal circumstances I would have returned it though.

This one is quite short, may not be suitable for tubs that extends or is slanted
