Solid option for being inexpensive. It is made with cheap feeling plastic so it's not the most durable thing, but works well enough for the average sized skein/hank. It makes neat cakes with the right hand tension on the yarn while winding. My only gripe with it is that the clamp sometimes works its way loose after 2-3 cakes and needs to be retightened or it'll topple over. I'm afraid to over tighten it so I only make it as snug as I dare to. The feed bar also tends to thump on the table a bit so I ended up scooting a spare mouse pad under it for noise dampening. Works like a charm and absorbs the impact nicely. I'm giving it five stars because I could totally spend more on something a bit more expensive and objectively fancier but those could also break easily for all I know, so why bother? It works well for what I need it for and will help me consolidate my yarn stash into neater and more uniform cakes for displaying in my storage cubes. I've been winding yarn balls by hand for the last 20 years so decided to gift it to myself. No more will my yarn go for an adventure around the room/the legs of the chair I'm sitting in while I knit or crochet! No more collapsing center-pull spaghetti knots 2/3 of the way through a skein! I can use one of those fancy yarn bowls now! It takes like 2 minutes to make a cake out of a full skein. Over time, it will save me DAYS of my life I used to spend winding balls and unknotting things constantly. I store it in the box it came in and feel like it'll at least last me a few years, which is well worth price point. Will update my review if catastrophic failure that is not caused by my own incompetence occurs in the near future.

This yarn winder does a good job. I got it to wind cakes from some yarn skeins I bought. I didn’t have a yarn rack thing. I just used the back of a dining table chair. Feels sturdy and easy to get the hang of. It is sort of a pain to store, but I would still recommend it.

I was hesitant to purchase a yarn winder but decided after much research and reading reviews that it wouldn’t hurt to try it. My box came without instructions so I’m not sure if that’s the norm and by the wear of the box, it seemed like it may have been a returned item. I only make amigurumi’s and on occasion baby clothing items; I tend to only use chunky yarn. With that being said I was pretty surprised that it was easy to make one cake with my leftover chunky yarn #6. I did try to make a bigger skein but I’m learning that you have to cut the yarn at some point in order to make another a cake as opposed to one big cake. It’s manual so of course there will be sound to it which didn’t bother me. I did notice that the iron loop (not sure of the name) will spin around if you don’t have a steady tension and it will unloop if the cake is bigger than allotted on the spinner. It’s okay overall. Thankfully I got it while it was on sale because the overall feel to it,is somewhat of a thrift store purchase.

I spotted the MYFULLY Manual Yarn Ball Winder online and thought it would be a steal. I'd seen plenty of cutesy videos with neat little yarn cakes spinning into existence—looked easy enough.Ten tries later, my living room looked like a cat party gone wrong. I watched three different YouTubers confidently crank their winders, but every time I gave it a go, my yarn became a tangled mess. I reversed directions, held the yarn at different angles, even bribed it with a snack (okay, kidding, but I was that desperate). No matter what I tried, the yarn refused to form a cake. In the end, I ended up with an impressive knot that might've passed for modern art but definitely wasn't the tidy ball I needed.I'm done. This thing is going back. I'm calling it quits and getting a name-brand electric winder. Shame on Past Me for trying to save a buck instead of going with a reputable brand from the start. Sometimes, you just have to go pro or go home.

This is the first yarn winder I've ever purchased. It's small which is nice for portability. Very easy to set up. Few dislikes though - isn't very stable and doesn't grip to surfaces well even with the clamp super tight. The slits on the bobbin are too wide so it doesn't hold the yarn as secure as it should, though it keeps it in place enough that it works. Lastly, IT SQUEAKS! The handle makes a very loud squeaking noise while turning it that's comparable to nails on a chalkboard. It gets the job done but there's probably better winders out there.

Amazing! Game changer if you have lots of loose yarn. I’ve rolled 4 balls in less than 15 mins and I’ve saved on storage too! Works great. It’s not too big and it’s simple to set up

Works great, winds well, but still figuring out tension. Size is nice and clamps to multiple surfaces. Overall a good intermediate yarny’s friend.

Sadly this did not work for me. Tried several times to wind my yarn, but every time the ball ended up lopsided. Is the bobbin supposed to twist while the whole thing turns? My yarn kept winding high on one side of the bobbin and low on the other, not evenly up and down (if that makes sense). Its not difficult to put together. I just had to attach the bobbin to the main piece until it clicked into place, then fix to a table. I'm wondering if I got one with malfunctioning gears... :(
