This safe is the perfect solution for storing the loaded handgun and will allow quick access by either of us if it is ever needed. It is designed to be physically mounted to the bottom of a shelf or the wall. When you unlock the safe, the storage for the gun drops down to give you quick access to the firearem. It has foam padding and can accommodate several different models of handguns. Now my husband can keep his gun safe and his family safe as well.

At least this safe is easy to program. The included directions are clear and easy to follow. Mounting instructions on the other hand are practically non-existent. The product description shows photos of the safe flush mounted horizontally. However, this style of mounting isn't possible with the included mounting bracket. Furthermore, I wouldn't choose to mount it horizontally for fear of my pistol simply dropping out of this safe based on the way it opens. Based on the way it opens it really needs to be mounted vertically. And for that it requires at least 15.5 inches of clearance. I wanted to mount this vertically to my standard steel bed frame, but to a lack of clearance, that won't be possible. Now, I'm left trying to find another place to mount it.It's a decent safe. It's heavy. It's solid. It's easy to program. It affords the user three modes of access: digital combination lock, fingerprint scanning, and good old fashioned key lock. It's foam lined interior can accommodate most any pistol. The real shortcoming is, as far as I'm concerned, are it's limitations when it comes to actually mounting it somewhere useful.

This is perfect for a bedside piece, and can be used in other spaces. The code function works well and the safe is large enough for a bigger puece.

I noticed a screw in the battery compartment and it was to hold the battery case in place. Fortunately there was another screw that did the job. kind of noisy, bio metrics button doesn't work half the time. heave and solid. Good for storage, not for emergencies.

I selected this safe as I believe in keeping my home defense firearm secure, but having it in a drawer locked away made for cumbersome access should I need it in the middle of the night. Currently, I have a simple nano safe that requires either a key or a putting in a 3 digit combo code. It works, but it's a little slow.This particular safe I decided to try out because I figured I could mount it to the side of my nightstand and make accessing the firearm a lot faster.The Tactical 45 is a great little safe. It operates via a programable 4 digit code, a biometric finger print, or by one of the two included keys. I like the fact that you don't have to choose which opening option the safe recognizes as it only remembers one fingerprint. This is helpful in my case as I have set the fingerprint to mine and my wife knows the 4 digit code should she need to get into the safe if I am not there. Instructions to program the safe were included and easy to follow. The is an option to turn off the button beeps if you want the safe to be a bit more stealthy to open. Just keep in mind that the motor is pretty loud with it opens and safe drops open with a pretty audible THUNK.The safe has a foam cutout that will facilitate pretty much any pistol. A revolver will fit, but the cut out is geared more to hugging the barrel and frame of a semi automatic. I tried it with my bedside gun of choice, a Glock 17 with a small pistol light. It works but the foam is a bit tight around the light. Not difficult to draw the gun, but it's a bit snug. A full size 1911 fit fine, but it was a bit loose. The cutout seems to work best on a polymer frame full size, but any pistol should work well enough.The safe can be mounted horizontally or vertically. Sadly, the way it mounts and the weight of the safe meant that my idea of making it my new bedside safe a no-go. I really need it to mount from the back to attach to the wall better as the side mounting holes were not going to be secure enough to mount into a piece of furniture. Also, the screws that it comes with a bit on the small side.I have elected to mount this under my desk at my place of business vertically. It's a great out of the way way to keep your gun secure if you don't want it on your person, or a back up for "just in case". While the foam is only cut for one handgun. It would be very easy to cut in a space for either a back up magazine or if you wanted to really secure the gun by storing it unchambered with the magazine removed.In short, this safe didn't mount exactly how I had hopes, but it's still great quality for the price. I currently have it mounted with a pistol that stores well that I don't shoot often as something that will be out of sight and mind unless I ever need it. It's a slim (if a bit heavy) and while the mounting is a bit weird, its really serviceable when you consider that you are getting a biometric safe as well as a combo lock safe.

Having the same finger/thumb entered multiple times increases the likelihood that the safe will open the first time you try it in an emergency. Overall, this is a quality safe that helps you to be a responsible gun owner.

This is a good size for securing just what it was made for. While it’s not fort knox, neither is the price. Ur it will secure an item from all but the most determined thief. Although i used lags rather than the screws in the box.The keys worked easily. The directions for setting the code had to be read and reread but were easily performed.I am happy with the unit.
