The replacement tool worked as described in rekeying a Kwikset smart lock on the home my girlfriend recently purchased. She didn't have any of the original packaging or items for the lock as it was installed by the previous homeowner, so it was necessary to do a factory reset on the digital lock and rekey the deadbolt. It was a very easy process to get the deadbolt lock on the Kwikset rekeyed to match the key and lock for the doorknob.

At $8.99 this tool is ridiculously expensive. You can make it (a functional equivalent) out of a staple, and it would still work as great.
