Not tested by live rattlesnakes but tested by a fake python. I filmed a 7 minute prank on a friend who’s terrified of snakes that showed him shaking with fear as he attempted to remove the killer python (in Texas??) I stuck in his shower. He came screaming out of the bathroom and I just happened to have my Amazon package that held the snake wrangler pole in my car (it was a gift for him). I said here, use this.Him: for what!? We need a Shotgun!Me: it’s not a python. We live in Texas. It’s probably a garden snake (it was a fake python).Him: it’s a python!!Me: I am going to film this so we have it to remember that I’m always right. Now, take pole like a grown up big boy and let’s go pick up your new shower buddy.Him: will you please do it?!Me: I think it’s time you face your fear head on, friend. Besides while you were opening that up, I peeped in the shower. Do garden snakes have hoods too?Him: I told you, it’s a python! I know! I’ll call the cops!Me: we don’t call cops. You know the code. Even on pythons. We take care of them ourselves. Now I’ll be behind you with the bat, you just hold him up.He is shaking with fear.Me: cmon Alex! You got this! Or should I say, Ricki Ricki Tavi!Yeah, he hasn’t read his classics either. It’s one of the jungle books and it’s about a python killing mongoose who saves a boy from from boy eating pythons. And in typical Kipling style I want to say that Ricki Ticki goes down their subterranean lair and eats their egg babies after he kills the mom and dad pythons.Little macabre but Kipling had his darker moments.Anyhow, we get to the shower of potential death and I had propped up the python so ya know, it would be full hood out, gang colors and all, but it had fell over on its face.Him whispering to me: I think it’s asleep…LOL ASLEEP….I reach in and grab it by the tail and fling it at him. He proceeds to drop the snake handler pole and all but goes into cardiac arrest as I pee my pants laughing. Now, we do have snakes and some are poisonous but not pythons. Actually. I don’t know that to be a fact. I’m sure some jerk has a pet python in a cage somewhere. But not indigenous to the area. Certainly not found commonly in showers.I give it five stars because it was a gift after the prank since he does weirdly live on a snake infested property. We played and practiced with it. He almost punched me in the face when he realized it was rubber. And I think if it was a python, I’d have to go with his original “shotgun” idea but for the native snakes around here this would work.Oh and my precious video? At some point right in the beginning I stopped it even tho I was sure I was recording. There needs to be a way to stop from hitting the stop on the record function.Anyways, wonderful product. Super long reach. Would battle garden snakes and maybe sidewinders or black adders, I forget what the bad snake we have here is.

To be clear, I like it, it works, and after the snakes we had last year, we're technically ready.BUT....1. The pole is not "collapsible". One has to unscrew each section. This is not something you're going to collapse and then extend quickly. It's not "in a pinch", it's assemble and KEEP ready.2. The grabber is firm, and grabs well. BUT.... compared to another I had (until I tripped on it last year), THIS one doesn't have a self-adjusting jaw. If your grabber is set to be REALLY tight, you will hurt the animal if you pull the handle too tightly. I don't want to get bit, but I don't begrudge a snake for being a snake. So keep that in mind. If you are one to not freak out, you likely won't grab too tightly and hurt them. If you are one to freak out, you may not have the control. If you don't care about the animal's safety, then this is not an issue.Works on snakes, birds, etc. as long as you can get the grip on the animal. Great for grabbing things that fell away too. Just know that this is a LONG pole, not a typical indoor grabbing handle.Build is OK, foam is a nice touch too. The "collapsible"/adjustable bit on the end allows you to set the "grip strength" so practice with it to set it how you need it. Once set it seems to stay in place. So all in all, a totally workable device, that's always ready. I'd not characterize this as a "quick deployment" (i.e. extending when needed) device though.

Some people love snakes. And then there's most of us. The reality where I live is there are snakes and I'd just as soon we each keep to ourselves. But, I have had numerous interactions over the years. Now, however, I am better equipped to assist in moving a snake when needed. You do have to assemble the pole sections -- the video in the listing does a pretty nice job of illustrating that. And it does pay to follow the instructions when assembling, particularly to make sure the trigger properly operates the jaws at the other end. Once assembled and operating, it has a pretty strong grip. The grabber jaws at the end have teeth to them, so some finesse is needed if damaging the snake (say, just relocating it) is the objective. And, with the strong grip, this can double as a reacher tool to help get those pesky items stored up on the top shelf in the garage.

This is a heavy duty pole. Because of the length and weight i cannot use it with one hand. I have to use one hand on the handle and one hand on the pole. Because of this it is not useful for trash pickup as stated. But most importantly I cannot use it because there is not enough room on the handle for my hand and the cable cuts into my hand. The quality of the product is fine, but This does not work for me at all.

For $20, this is a nice snake grabbing tool. It’s sturdier than I expected and it’s longer than a lot of the ones I’ve seen on the market. Last year I had a few snakes in my shop and I’d rather not get too close to them. I’m fine with most snakes… as long as they stay away from my work areas! I’d rather safely relocate them. The gripper clamps down pretty tight. The pole is lightweight but sturdy. The length keeps them safely away from you. Nice tool to have on hand if you live in areas with lots of snakes.

We got this because it can handle a couple of pounds. We are disabled, so reaching things on top shelves like boxes of rice or other things is a risky business, but with this grabber it is much easier.
