TOPENS TEW3 Vehicle Sensor Exit Wand - Highlights
Smart Vehicle Exit Wand
- Automatically open the gate when the TEW3 exit sensor detects vehicles in motion.
- It triggers the gate opener to open the gate anytime the vehicles drive through the sensor's magnetic field of 2 to 12ft.

Strongly Recommended for Gate Openers
- Ideal for family and friends to go out without a remote or keypad, and enjoy wireless "Hands Free" exit of your property.
- The wand senses changes in the earth magnetic field caused by mass metal movements and then automatically opens the gate.
- User-friendly design, simply adjust the field area of sensitivity from 2 to 12ft. by turning of a knob.
- Coming with 50 feet (15 meters) long directly burial cable (a PVC jacket 5-core cable), the probe is allowed to be trenched and placed next to the drive.
- Prewired weather-resistant wire and easy-to-follow instruction are included for your peace of mind.
Easy DIY Installation
Key Installation Points
- Wire directly to the control board of the gate motor.
- The probe can be directly buried underground to save unnecessary labor cost compared with the loop coil model. No earth grounding required.
- Generally install the wand 25 to 100ft. away from the gate, and bury 2” deep from ground and 8” from driveway edge.
- The wand can be placed up to 100 feet (30 meters) away from the gate. Shield wire (size: 5 x 18AWG) is recommended for extension.
- Install the wand away from any power lines to avoid interrupting detection signal.
- If the gate operator system is only solar powered, please add 30W solar panels more and upgrade the battery (NOT included) to 17 Ah to meet the power consuming.
NOTE
- The sense range is affected by the size and driving speed of the vehicle.
- The exit wand may be activated automatically in strong magnetic field or by lawn mower, tools, coins, or any other metal objects if the sensitivity is set too high. May not be used as a safety device.
- It is strongly recommended to enable the “Auto-close Function” on your control panel, in order to ensure your home security with the TEW3 Vehicle Exit Sensor.
- One TEW3 exit wand can only work for one gate operator, while one gate operator can connect two TEW3 exit sensors at most.

This item works great. I use it at our land and have it set so that my tractor or UTV or 4 wheelers can pass by the sensor and the gate will open.Lesson learned.When I first installed the wand it did not work. This was not the wands fault it was mine. I learned that every time you change a setting or add a component part you must power the system off and back on for the sinew setting labor components to work. Topens Tech support is very helpful and very detailed in their responses on issues that I was having.

The build quality is solid, and the smart features like remote control and auto-close are incredibly convenient. It has handled my heavy-duty gate effortlessly, even during bad weather.What really stood out was their customer support—quick, detailed, and extremely helpful. DO NOT BUY!!! Read complete review!!!Updating review 11/12/21. Customer service is amazing. They reached out to me, sent me a new one and followed up to make sure everything works. New sensor is working good with no issues.Shelley With Topens is by far the best Customer service agent I have ever had the pleasure to deal with.Update as of 4/29/2023So the first initial wand failed within a year. Topens Customer support stepped in and made that right.So here I from purchase in 2020 to not even a year later having to dig up and replace this wand. This wand was replace in November of 2021.And now April of 2023, the Topens Wand has failed again. So i got less then a year from the first one, and a year and months out of the second one. So of coarse it is out of warranty, but tried anyways.And of coarse Topens will not warranty it, not because it is out of their 1 year warranty, but because there is not a warranty on the replaced item. Only the original purchase.So 2 wand that cost almost $200 can not even last 2 years without having to be replaced. The product is crap. Customer service was originally good, but if I have to replace this product ever year, then it is not worth the money to begin with, lets not forget that ever time this things STOPS working, I have to dig it up to replace it.DO NOT BUY!!!!Keep in mind, if their wand fails this much and this fast, how well do the rest of Topens products hold up.Biggest mistake ever made was Purchasing a Topens gate open system. Definitely will find a different brand when the main components fail.Which judging by the way their wands hold up, I am sure wont be much longer.

This opener works just fine, is easy enough to install with the instructions provided either within or with the gate opener. My only criticism is that the 50 ft cable is far too short; I'm practically on top of my gate before it's opening. But hey, it's still easier than getting out of the car, and I can always use the remote if I'm in a hurry.

We followed the instructions, and it worked for a while. The problem we had is when it rained. We re positionedit and changed the depth as shown by customer service, but it just didn't work.I have to say customer service went out of their way to help us and made it right. They refunded us our money for the wand even though the product was over their return time. Topens made this a great experience. I would recommend this company. I’m changing the star rating to four stars because the customer service was great. I’m sure this product will work better in a dryer environment
