My wife has a high end Cadillac. She has a ham radio license. But no holes were going to be done. This works seamlessly.

I ran one for about 6 months after getting my amateur license and finally got sick of not being able to roll that particular window down (and the obnoxious coax draped across the interior...that's on me for not tucking it though). Let me just say it finally took removing a satellite antenna I don't use on the roof of the truck and putting an NMO mount with a mobile antenna to beat the performance of this thing with a Nagoya 771 on it (plus adapters on each end). I initially tried the same NMO mount and antenna I use on the roof mounted to a bracket on the fender/hood cowling area and that setup was significantly limited compared to this setup. I found the mount to be great for mounting meshtastic antennas outside the vehicle as well (it is gendered for a Lilygo T Beam as-is no adapters). Great low key way to boost your range with a handheld without drilling holes, running wires, or much difficulty removing it or switching it to another vehicle. Had I known the work/cost involved and the limitations I still have where I ended up, I would have just spent $40 on a fresh mount and antenna. Does add the slightest hint of road noise from the window not fully seating but not as much as I expected it to up front.

The window clip fit well but the cable seemed to not work well after a short period.

I’ve had it for a week and I noticed improvement with reception . I can hit the repeaters better. I use a standard/issue antenna but you can always add a better antenna . I don’t expect it to work like a more expensive and bigger antenna. Good for the price . If you don’t want to drill holes into your car and/or ruin your paint job , this is a great solution. Pleased so far.

This is a must have if you don’t have a mobile unit and you like to carry your HT’s. Add the Nagoya 771g antenna for GMRS.

Purchased to use an HT while on travel with a rental car. Measured the VSWR and in fact cable loss with a VNA. The cable loss in the 40cm band is ~1dB, which is acceptable given the light weight of the cable. VSWR hanging off the glass on a typical vehicle is close to the antenna performance on a reference round plate.Overall a good choice for travelers.

Makes my HT much more effective and the mounting works well on my Porsche Cayenne. If you want something that won’t look weird on your car…buy one.
