Reading the reviews helped with how much to use for 12 cup coffee makers. Worked with my maker, makes the coffee faster, no after taste. This size should do many cleanings. Not going to wait so long to clean.

I love this product. It cleans so quickly and so well. Very high quality and gets rid of any hardware build up in my machines which leaves things shiny and wonderfully preforming. Works at a reasonable speed of similar products on the market

This works really great. I have completed descaling successfully, but on second try, since there was really no good instructions. Rather than just descaling the machine, I like to do a full clean, which involves descaling, replacing water filter and then running the cleaning cycle. Here is how I done it:*** DESCALE ***1. Grab a measuring cup and fill 3.5 oz (75mL) worth of powder.2. Pull out the reservoir from the espresso machine and fill it to the max line.3. Now, pour that water into a separate container that you can use to mix the powder with. Use this moment to remove the old water filter and throw it away.4. Mix the powder until it completely dissolves into the water. There should be no powder floating around.5. Pour that liquid solution back into the reservoir and place the reservoir back into the espresso machine (yes, without the water filter).6. We will start the descaling process first. Make sure the machine is powered off.7. Press and HOLD the 2-cup button, then press and HOLD the power button (you should be holding two buttons now). It will go into descale mode.8. Once you are in a descale mode, you will see that the power button is flashing.9. Once it stops flashing, the POWER button, 1 CUP button, CLEAN/DESCALE indicator and HOT WATER/STEAM indicator lights are SOLID (GLOWING). You are ready to descale.10. Press the 1 CUP button. It will take about 25 seconds to complete its process (you can end the process early by pressing on that button again). Then turn on steam, which should take about 13 seconds to complete the process. Then turn on hot water, which should take about 8 seconds to complete the process.11. Continue repeating step 11 until the water level reaches the minimum level.*** RINSE/WATER FILTER REPLACEMENT ***12. At this point, I recommend opening up a new package with water filter and let it soak in water for 5 minutes.13. While it is soaking, we want to wash the reservoir from the Dezcal solution, and clean it in case it is dirty (the walls and bottom of reservoir gets dirty easily)14. Once we have finished washing and rinsing the reservoir, and once five minutes passed since the water filter has been soaking, take out the water filter and rinse it for a minute.15. Install the new water filter into the reservoir and fill up the reservoir with water.16. Repeat step 10 again to clean the machine of any leftover Dezcal solution (make sure you stop when water goes to minimum).17. Once the water is at the minimum, we will refill the reservoir and put it back into the espresso machine.18. Power off the machine to prepare for last cleaning step.*** CLEANING CYCLE ***19. Grab the portafilter and put the cleaning rubber disk inside the single or double shot filter. (doesn't matter whether it is double wall or normal one)20. Place the cleaning tablet into the cleaning rubber disk (in the center - there is a dedicated place)21. While the machine is off, press and hold the 1 CUP, 2 CUP and POWER button simultaneously for three seconds, which will start the cleaning cycle.22. NOTE: Older Breville machine may have the water coming out of the portafilter. Newer machines do not - they perform a backwash (water comes out into the drip tray)23. After about five minutes, the machine will do a few beeps. If the tablet did not disolve, then retry this once more. Otherwise, continue to next step.24. Once cleaning cycle is done, remove the portafilter from the machine and click on the 1 CUP or 2 CUP button to clean off any remaining cleaning tablet solution.25. Wash the portafilter, and the rubber cleaning disk. You should be done.

Through an unfortunate series of events I had to flee my living situation and move in with my parents who are octogenarians, my dad pushing 90. They have this coffee machine in their home and they don't see too well apparently because this machine was completely covered in grease and filled with limescale. My instinct was to throw the thing right in the trash and replace it but knowing my parents, I had to make a great show of trying to shine it up and save the machine. My dad was still using the single serve portion of the coffee maker and it is a wonder he's still living.I poured a full carafe of vinegar water in this machine to brew and only half of the contents came through, the rest a mystery where it went. A few more times alternating between vinegar mix and some food grade disinfectant tablets I happened to have -- even swirling a silicone brush in the water chamber to loosen the scale from the inside -- and the machine eventually ran much clearer but somewhat sluggishly with sediment catching in the filter. I still didn't trust drinking anything that came out of this machine.A search on Amazon and I found this product from Urnex. Urnex is a brand name I recognize from the products used to maintain the office coffee machines. I ordered this and poured it in to the machine at a maximum strength mixture. After 20 minutes I turned the machine on and watched the murky water come out. Not only did it look bad but it smelled bad too and whatever it was loosening up, it stopped up the filter and the water just pooled in there. Ich! I dumped it out and ran some of the solution through again, then began clean water rinses 5 or 6 times. It runs like a new machine now. The coffee tastes good and my innards are still in tact. Plus I made my parents proud which was what this whole thing was all about. Fabulous.

I use it to clean my coffee maker, which accumulates a lot of scale due to our hard California water. I generally run it through once, let it cool off, then run it again. Afterward I run two pots of fresh water to remove the chemical. I've never detected any residual taste after doing this. After the treatment the coffee maker will go a year of so before needing treatment again. Seems to be completely benign in terms of damaging any components in the coffee maker.I've also used it in an electric kettle. Does a good job with that too.

Our moca master coffee pot is now 5 years old and this is the recommended descaler. We use it every 100 coffee filters. Never have we had a coffee pot last this long yet the money spent in the prior 5 years equaled this superb pot. So yea, this is a great product that keeps our great coffee pot operating nicely.
