This thing will edge your skis and your board, but its more of a quick tune tool to get out burrs and remove rust before the start of ski season. I live on the east coast (read: ice coast) so its imperative to have sharp edges if youre skiing anything other than park. Actually even in the park. Now as far as these types of tools go, it works. Its nothing special. It doesn't change the bevel of your ski and just does a standard edge. Definitely takes a bit of pressure and a few good strokes to get the edge sharpened well, but it will get the job done and doesn't mess with your base! I did notice that if youre not really careful, it can slip off the metal edge and then you'll be running your hand down the freshly sharpened edge instead, so might be a good idea to wear some protective gloves just in case! I used it before a ski day at blue mountain and my edges held up even on the icier runs at night, so it def works!

I made several passes with this tool (without flat filing the base first) and my edges remained dull. Instructions online or in package detailing the correct use of this tool are absent but would help those that currently use a flat file for both bases and edges. I suspect that flat filing is required to sharpen the ski, and this tool is for knocking off the filing burrs ? It was easy for me to overlook the grey on grey angle labels in a recess below the file. The seller promptly sent me the attached photo showing its location. Easy to see in good light if you know where/what to look for.

Checked the bad reviews before buying, they said there were no angle indicators but there is. They said the file is dull but it is not, the coarse side seems to work and any direction but the fine side will only work one way. Mine did not have an arrow showing the direction like in the pictures but just run your finger over it and one way will feel coarse and the other way will feel smooth. Use the coarse feeling way as the direction. As you can see in the photos of my board the edges were very rusty and it took it off no problem, took about 20 mins start to finish taking my time. Definitely watch a video on how to edge a board if you’ve never done it. I’m taking a star off because of the crack, not sure if it was there when I got it or shortly after I started using it, when I noticed it. But I am getting a free replacement for it.

This simple, easy to use edge sharpener is so good. I purchases a way more expensive one that would not arrive before my trip, so I ordered this little beauty which was much better. First of all you can adjust how much of the file is shown so you don't file off the PTEX. Different angles you just flip it over. For the price you can't beat this.

Use it right and it works great. It's a metal file and it shaves metal bits off the edge of your ski or snowboard to file it down and sharpen them shoots. It works.

Holder is fine. The file is useless. The teeth on both sides of the file are dull.
