Took a chance on this because the item listing did not say anything about Mac compatibility, but luckily it was just plug n' play in my 2009 Mac Pro 4,1 / 5,1 running Monterey. No driver installation needed, even though it did come with a driver disc.It even lists Mac 10.8 to 10.10, Mac 12.12 and later as a system requirement in the Quick Install guide. Maybe they just forgot got to include it in the listing?Either way, it's a great option to bring USB 3.1 Gen 2 to your old Mac Pro Cheesegrater.

Product is listed as plug and play, but it certainly was not my experience. Product was not recognized by either of my two computers. Enclosed cd with drivers were confusing to say the least. A rep from the company sent me drivers via email, no luck with those working either. Had to return product. My advice to anyone buying this product is, good luck.

This was a really easy Plug & Play on my new Windows 11 PC, though a driver CD still came with it. Tested a USB flash drive & it was much faster. Recommend this for anyone who want to add and external drive for backup or whatever.

I would only recommend this card for very old systems that just have an x1 PCIe 2.0 slot. If you have an X1 PCIe 3.0 slot, get ax x1 10gbps USB card instead. If you have an x4 PCIe 2.0 slot, get a 10gbps x4 card instead. With this slower 5gbps connection, you're limited to a max speed of about 400mb/s. With a 10gbps USB card, an external NVMe drive will go at a full 1,000mb/s. The different in price, for a 10gbps card, is maybe $10 more. It's worth it to cut your wait time in half every time you want to copy files to/from an external drive. Enjoy.

This is a great way to add some USB 3.0 and USB-C to an older PC. I have a 15 year old PC that I still use, but obviously it doesn’t have USB-C, and the motherboard only had one working USB 3.0 port. I popped this card into an open PCIe slot, connected the SATA power connector, installed the drivers, and I was good to go. It worked like a charm. I now have a few extra USB 3.0 ports, and a USB-C. The only drawback is that they are on the back of the PC, but for revitalizing and modernizing a 15 year old PC, I’ll take it.Here are a few items to note:1) You absolutely do need to install the drivers. Windows 10 did not automatically recognize this card. It came with a mini-CD containing the drivers, which I used (because my old PC still has a DVD drive). However, you can also download the drivers from their website, which I verified are available for a variety of operating systems.2) You can choose to connect a SATA power cable to this card or not. It should work fine without it, but USB 3 can theoretically output 900mA. If all 3 ports are going at full capacity at the same time, this could be 2.7 amps. I decided to connect a spare SATA power to the card just in case, and because I had a spare power connector, so why not. Some very old motherboards may not support this high current on the PICe port, and I didn’t know if mine would or not, so I just connected the SATA power just-in-case.3) After installing the driver, I did get a “blue screen†that didn’t go away after a minute or so. However, as soon as I reset the PC (using the hardware reset button on the case), it booted up just fine and the card worked as advertised. I don’t know if this was a one-off error for me, but it was easy to solve, and hasn’t recurred, so I chalk it up to just Windows being weird when a new driver was loaded.Overall, I’m very happy with my added USB capabilities on an aging PC. Absolutely 5 stars!

conflicted with existing usb ports would not work according to paper work came with card is not usb3.2 gen2 card is 3.1 gen2 so overall it is not what it was sold as! It did not work as was suppose toand is worth exactly 0 dollars. at that price you might use it as a paper weight but it don't weight verymuch so even as that it is not very good even for free.

The card itself actually works great, no issues, good read/write speed. The only issue I have with this card is the orientation of the usb socket, they are vertical. If you see the picture, the usb connector is so tight against the PCI slot, literally there's no room left and this makes it extremely difficult to insert USB devices. If you plan to use this for things like keyboards and mouse which you dont need to take out often, this may not bother you. However, if you have usb keys, connecting to cameras or other devices that you need to remove often I'd recommend getting a horizontal orientation. Other than this, the card is perfect. I had to return the card however because of this design issue.
