I installed this controller in my Traeger Pellet grill, which had started having issues. The Temperature display would ramp up to 400 - 500 degrees, although the actual temperature was much lower. The auger would stop supplying pellets and the fire would go out. I first replaced the temperature sensor thinking that this was the problem. This didn't fix it and I almost set the entire grill out at the street. I changed my mind and decided I would spend a few more dollars and see if changing the electronics package would work. The electronics arrived nicely packaged. It came with the temperature sensor... like the one that I had just replaced, along with 2 new meat probes. The electronics look almost exactly the same, all the way down to the replacement fuse being tie-wrapped to the fuse holder. These Chinese guys can copy anything and copy it well. The old one comes right out by removing 2 phillips head screws. I had to snip a couple of wire ties to get the wires to full length, but it. The wires on the new one are exactly the same color as the original. Do NOT disconnect all of the plugs at once as there are no instructions. Take your time and match the wire colors and replace ONE PLUG AT A TIME. This way its hard to mess up.When put back into place, I added some wire ties to make sure the wires didn't hang down past the end of the pellet box and to keep them out of the fan motor. When I turned it on it started right up. The fire bowl was full of pellets, so it burned hot for a few minutes, but settled down quickly and hit the set mark temperature after burning the first bowl of pellets. It fits, it works, and it was relatively cheap. It extended the life of my old Traeger and kept it from going to the garbage dump.

10/24/24. I installed last night. It was a Plug and play install. Seems well made. Upgrade to have 2 temp probes is nice as it had none before. It showed accurate temps at the RTD probe and the 2 meat/temp probes. I would give it 5 stars but the temp settings are off a little at lower temps. If you set at 180 you’re going to get 225-240. If you set at 225 your going to get 245-250. I am fine with these temps at the low end, but I know some people would like to be able to cook even lower. I haven’t tried the smoke setting yet. It might allow for cooking below 225. I will update this review after I do so and to update quality over time. All in all a nice buy!

The issue I was having is my Traeger wasn’t maintaining temperature and was getting too hot, then would throw error codes and would just shut off.So there are no real instructions on how to install this and that was disappointing, however I took off the bottom panel under the pellet bin and it was all really obvious. This is a quick job, maybe 15-30 minutes. At first it was not maintaining the temp, but I realized I had to adjust the settings (which is on the directions). So after not using my Traeger for over two years and almost just throwing it away, today we were back in business! I actually talked to a dude from Traeger once and he told me to just buy a new one, what a joke! So two days in, I would have done this sooner!

Worked normal for one cook. Now the temp just keeps climbing and climbing out of control. It will not complete the shut down cycle without completely turning off on its own. Do not buy

The original controller on my 10+ year old Traeger suddenly died on me a few days ago. I saw this package deal at a great price and thought it was worth a shot. I figured I should probably change the old RTD probe anyway, and I liked the idea of upgrading with the included meat probes. I have not been disappointed! Swapping the parts was very straightforward. There weren’t any directions that came with the new controller, but the manly part of me probably wouldn’t have used them anyway. I was a little concerned at first that the wires on the new RTD probe may not reach the controller, because the new leads were considerably shorter than the originals and also my RTD probe sits further away than from the controller than what I’ve seen on the newer Traegers. However, the wire length worked just fine, and everything functions beautifully. After installing, I ran the grill up and down through all the temp settings and tried out the meat probes. I see some reviews to the contrary here, but my results have been excellent, especially for the price! My Traeger is running just like new again.

I thought I was going to be tossing my Traeger after limping through a brisket smoke, because my original thermal control unit could not hold a temperature for more than 20 minutes before turning off when I was halfway through the cook. I slapped this replacement in and have had it for several months. The Bluetooth thermometer I use for grilling roasts shows an extremely accurate and consistent holding temperature with the new unit that actually outperforms the original unit. The quality of the unit appears to meet or exceed that if the original.

Bought this control to replace the OEM on my Traeger PRO22. Started off great but no instructions...not an issue. First time using it I noticed it had a little trouble maintaining consistent temperatures at low temp levels but figured a little bit of fine tuning was required. Next time using it I noticed after it got to temp and held fine, the power blipped quickly enough that it shut down the motors and the display disappeared. Kept doing it every 5 minutes. Has kept doing this every time since and now when powering down, it just started to shut everything down and eliminate the cool down cycle.Bought due to the reviews but questioning if everyone just doesn't notice the power blips because they are so quick. Will not buy another one and will be replacing with the OEM. OEM maybe overpriced but at least they will stand behind it.

I’ve tried 2 of the exact (visually) same controllers from different companies here on Amazon. Neither worked. I’ve spent over 6 hours of my life watching for the numbers to regulate and nothing worked. I’ve tried the JK1 button in all 5 positions and the feed time and pause time do in fact change, but you CAN NOT rely on the readings.I’ve called Traeger and have a controller on the way. Should be here in 6 days.
