I'm a novice on the wood lathe but found out real quick that when trying to turn a bowl, I need some extra room between the tailstock and the bowl. It was just too close when trying to get my chisel oriented so I could start taking out what would become the inside of the bowl. Saw a video where there was some kind of extension being used that alleviated that problem. Researched it and found this MT2 (morse taper #2) and bought it. It just slips right in to your existing morse taper and gives you several inches of extension. This I slipped my live center into the extension and now I had the clearance I was needing. I checked it for trueness and everything seems fine. It fit the bill for me.

Item arrived on time & well-packaged. Item as described, but as others have commented, the "removal" slot is set too far back to easily be used for removing any tool inserted in the end; in my case it was about 3/8" too far back for my live center. To get around this, I used a 1/4" round file in a drill to slowly eat away at the slot on one side, eventually (30-45 minutes) elongating the slot by almost 1/2" (see pict-1). Then when the live center was inserted, about 1/8" of it was accessible for easily knocking it loose for removal (see green tip, pict-2). This modification could also be done with a small file; would just take a bit longer. NOTE: you need only elongate one slot on one side of the extension, not both slots.

The slot for removing the live center and ALL of my other MT2 inserts is badly misplaced. it is at least 1 to 2 CM too far back. The inserts do not even reach to the slot, so the drift pin removal tool does not touch them at all.I am returning itI would NOT recommend this tool. Hopefully, a different brand is better designed.

It fits. It added 4 inches to my tail stock travel. The slot in the extension was too far back for me to eject my Harvey lathe's live center from the extension. So I had an older live center which had a slightly longer MT2 taper which fit into the extension with it's end visible in the extraction slot. Fit and finish is well made.

The product looks like it is made from quality steel. However, there is a slight vibration at higher speeds above 1200 RPMs when using the extension. The most negative thing on the extension sleeve is once you put in The 60° cone, you cannot remove the cone without hammering it out.In most cases, the cone is a tight friction fit, and therefore cannot come out of the extension. The company should have some method of being able to eject the cone from the extension
