Works with most bulbs and is fairly large, the overall built quality is awesome nice metal but does get hot when left on for long. Easy to screw in bulbs and easy to put onto tanks for reptiles.Overall, value for money is great.

ITEM: Fluker's Repta-Clamp Lamp with Switch 8.5"PRO: Good price, rapid delivery, Spring clamp is strong. I'm ordering another one now (3 total), one for ceramic heater for bird in unheated room, one for ceramic heater for lizard, one for LED bulb to replace weak head lamp for close up projects.CON: Description is not clear if the unit comes with a lamp. It is a reflector with ceramic socket, spring clamp, and in-line off-on rocker switch. Since the switch rocker does not indicate which end is Power-ON, you may wish to mark that end with a little piece of colored tape/red fingernail polish.A little tricky putting the spring clamp on, and the wingnut needs to have larger wings for comfortable turning, but assembly process is easily determined. The ceramic socket and the aluminum reflector get very hot when a ceramic/bulb heater is used, so be sure to protect cord and hands from contacting the reflector.

Used my last light hood with bulbs from 75-150 Watts for 6 years without knowing it was only rated to 50 Watts. It burnt out one day and thankfully I was there, and realized this was why! This new light hood with clamp is the same size of hood, but rated to 150 Watts! Perfect! Has been working perfectly, left on 24/7 in a terrarium, for the last 8 months. Thanks Fluker's!

I purchased 2 of these (on sale) to heat my pet hedgehog's bin cage with ceramic heat emitters. While these lamps work to keep my pet's enclosure at the right temperature range, I did encounter 3 issues with them.1) Both domes arrived with slight dents (see photo). When I contacted Fluker's directly, they claimed that they package their lamps in such a manner that it shouldn't result in that type of damage. They suspected that they were dented during transport or by the distributor. Since I was bringing home my new pet soon, I didn't have time to deal with exchanging these via Amazon (especially since new ones might arrive in the same manner). I simply used some gentle pressure to push out the dents with my thumbs and reshape the dome. If I look carefully enough, I can still make out where the lamps got dented...but I'm more concerned with function over form with these clamp lamps.2) The clamps on these lamps did not work for my setup. The sides of my bin cage were too thick and slippery and the lamps were too top heavy when the bulbs were installed. The weight caused the domes to slide and tip sideways, risking melted plastic bins. I had to DIY lamp stands (with weighted toilet paper holders and zip ties) to hold/stabilize the domes above the bin cage.3) After testing the lamps out for only a few hours with 150-watt ceramic heat emitters, I noticed that both cords got charred near the ceramic base of the bulb fixture. When I contacted Fluker's about it, they said that I should not only avoid having the cord touch the metal dome (which I knew not to do), but also the ceramic base. They said that the visible charring shouldn't be a safety issue as long as the metal wiring wasn't exposed. This being my first experience with using heat lamps, I wish they had printed a warning or caution somewhere on the box as I would've taken more care to position/secure the cord properly had I known from the beginning. That being said, it is difficult to prevent any contact as the hole where the cord connects to the fixture is so narrow. All in all, these lamps work well enough for my purposes.
