They alert almost right away to whats going on. I had one on the higher side of the floor without realizing so when I did get a leak it didn't know because it was on the "high ground". The app and wifi worked pretty well but had a little issue connecting my second unit at first. They will trigger a temperature change alert by just changing rooms so pretty sensitive but your flood alerts require full water contact so pick your spots properly.

I gave up trying to reset and just ordered a new monitor. Then, I got a young person to hook it up for me. I love it and think it will do exacttly as planned. In retrospect, I think I got into trouble because I could not complete the setup in five minutes. And then, could not reeset.. The monitor is designed to be water proof so the back is very tight. Even my teenager had to grasp lthe screws with a mosquito clamp to get it off. The other issue I had, how to be sure it is working, happened by accident whenI brought it from the cold basement, I got a message saying someting to the effect,"rapid temperature increasre", My one suggestion is that Kidde do a Setup for Dummies page. As I said earlier, not all of us and talented in this respect. Yes, now that all is sorted, I would buy it again.

The unit only updates the room temperature every 12 hours. Can't force an update. No way to monitor the room temperature more frequently.Alarm loses internet connection and isn't able to restore connection without user input. And even then sometimes the device has to be removed and re-installed. App is not the most intuitive and leaves a lot to be desired.As others have pointed out, can't turn this on and leave without risking a freeze. If you're at home, you can hear the alarm. If the internet connection is lost, the device needs to be reset manually. And as noted, this can involve uninstalling the device.Nice, but not reliable when it really counts.UPDATE:We just went through cold -15 degree night and the freeze detector wasn't much better than nothing. The device displays temperatures from the last update that is done only twice a day. Was the unit off-line? Either go check the freeze detector manually or wain 12 hours for the off-line email.I ended up having to physically visit the alarm every few hours. Very frustrating.

I have not actually used these yet but due to the confusion with installing the batteries thought I would write a note. The screws on the back are not meant to come all the way out. Just loosen them up and use a pair of pliers and pull on one. The back will then pop off. It does take a little bit of a tug, harder then you may think is needed but its sealed tight to avoid water getting in. It will pop off, put in battery, then just tighten screws back down. FYI, Customer service is great.

I bought these a few months ago and wanted to use them before I wrote a review. I have one positioned between my refrigerator and dishwasher and the other is positioned near my washing machine in my laundry room. Having this is peace of mind that I will be alerted quickly if there are any water leaks around either of these appliances. I have hardwood floors throughout my house and I like knowing that with these monitors, along with the phone app, I will be notified relatively quickly if there is a water leak so that I can turn off the water before significant floor damage is done.

I bought two of these. They connected easily to my wifi, and do detect water and beep/alert to my phone - so they fulfill their primary purpose. But one of the two fell off the wifi network about 3 months after purchase and I wasn’t able to get it reconnected. The other also fell off - I suspect we had a brief power loss/wifi restart - but was easy to reconnect. I ultimately had to replace the offline one. I did get another one of these to replace it - haven’t found anything better for the purpose.

If you live in Saudi Arabia , do not order this product. The app required to run it is not available in Google play or any other online source for those who live in KSA.

I am very upset as it has not been mentined that the all is not working in Australia.Very disappointed and am gonna return in tomorrow!
