Keyless door locks are pretty much divided in two groups: basic function ones, and the over-the-top “smart†ones. If you are looking for a basic function keyless door lock, trust me, Kwikset 270 is the one you want. And this is why:-Just two basic functions: electronic keyless operation or regular manual operation with a traditional key (this is really a backup in case the batteries die).-Easy to install-Easy to program-Solid construction-Beautiful design/finish (we got the Venetian Bronze and it looks extremely elegant)My top three favorite features of the lock are:-SmartKey Re-Key: Basically, instead of using the keys that come with the unit, you can set the unit to accept the house key you already have (especially useful if such key also opens other locks in the house). It is very simple to do.-Key Pad: instead of individual silicone or plastic buttons that protrude, it is a flat type of surface that looks better and feels better to the touch. It is not a digital screen like a cell phone, buttons are still there but they are recessed. They also light up when you press them. The numbers are very large and easy to see.-AutoLock: close the door and the unit will lock itself automatically after 30 seconds (you can program different times, but 30 secs is that fastest you can do). Easy, done. This is a nice feature if you have children or guests and you worry that somebody might suddenly forget to lock the door on their way out. Peace of mind knowing the lock will take care of itself.Note: If the programable times for the Autolock feature are a concern, the Kwikset 270 allows you to disable the Autolock feature completely at any moment. When disabled, to lock the door you MUST always press the little lock symbol on the keypad . Many people have mixed feelings about keyless door locks that lock/unlock automatically because they drain batteries faster and they are also loud. I think Autolock is a nice option to have overall. Battery life and noise levels seem adequate on this unit.Very happy with this unit so far. I also got the Kwikset matching fancy door handle with a matching finish. Getting a lot of compliments and the set looks very elegant.

For a few years I kept wanting to get one of these locks and after some research, I found this perfect one! For the price, ANSI Class, features and build, it is the best deal you’ll ever gonna find! One of the most important factors when picking (pun intended) a lock, is to look for its ANSI Class certification. You’d want one that’s either ANSI Class 1 or 2. The ANSI Class 1 is usually commercial grade and a lot more expensive but at the minimum, a Class 2 would suffice. Nothing lower! NONE of the “no brand†Made somewhere in Asia locks sold on Amazon and which sport all sort of bells and whistles … are ANSI Class 2 or 1. And that matters. This lock is (ANSI Class 2).With that out of the way, I’ll say that installation was a breeze. It all fit. I got it all done in about 30 minutes time, including programming and setting it up. The built (Made in Mexico which I trust) is great. Heavy and hefty. Oozes confidence and security. Looks great and setting it up was very easy. I wanted something simple from the start, non-WiFi, app driven or even Bluetooth. I don’t trust any of these technologies as they’re easily hackable. The pad on this thing lights up and it’s easy to dial in the passkey. Opens up fast and effective. The same with locking. I have mine locking automatically but there are a lot of choices in terms of setting the lock up. The features are more than sufficient. Also very important to me, was the feature to open with a key. This particular model can be “re-keyed†but be aware that you’d need a Kwikset key that matches the 2 that come with the lock. I hid one outside the house, somewhere that is almost impossible to find (unless you know the place :-), just in case something happens and I cannot key code myself to unlock the lock. That was an important feature when choosing this lock. The entire family loves it and felt comfortable using it immediately. No more keys. Everyone has a code. Now, I can hold a whole bunch of things in my hands (coffee mug, backpack, lunch bag, etc) when I leave home and not have to fumble for keys to lock the door behind me! It locks by pressing one single button or automatically, after one minute. Or coming home late at night when I always had to make sure I got the keys ready! It’s liberating.I love this thing! A great product from a good company with long tradition in this business.

I purchased this to replace a kwikset keypad lock That I have used for over 10 years. I could not find a lock that was as long as my original so I just opted to find one that worked wellAnd didn’t eat up Batteries. It took a little time to get the door to close just right but once I figured out how to move the door striker so that the door closed tightly. It was a breeze. I waited to do this review because I wanted to see how well The lock worked in everyday use. In my opinion , this lock is excellent. It closes and opens every time. Batteries are 2 months old and it’s still working. Came with keys too but have never used them. The light up pad is great. My old lock had padded buttons and the writing on them and the numbers kept wearing out. The lighted up Touch pad with this lock is excellent. It would be nice if it stayed lit but it is still a lot better than padded numbers. It was very easy to install and set upDifferent passcodes for every family member. You won’t be sorry with this purchase

A very straightforward installation replacing an existing normal keyed Kwikset lock. Been using this for over 6 months and is working solid. The touchpad has nice feedback and seems durable, and lock is still on the 1st set of batteries. Lock is used on average 2 to 3 times per day.
