This light was purchased and is currently being used for a corn snake. Having never used but researched lights like this before, I was a little concerned it would be too hot, or difficult to use. This light is actually very easy to use, lightweight, and a great way to help replicate day/night cycles for your pet!The box included the light (in a plastic housing), a mounting bracket, and an instruction manual. This manual was very well written, very detailed, and even included a very informative table of what light level to set per pet! For each level, 1-5, they give representative examples in common names (ex. leopard gecko, corn snake), as well as a very large list of scientific names, so that way in case you have a more uncommon pet you can easily consult these provided tables. They aren't fully comprehensive of course, but they are still very detailed! The light has an in-line control module, which allows you to toggle between brightness and time. The timer works well, and I have had no trouble making sure the light turns on and off at appropriate times. The light is lightweight enough to sit on the mesh of a terrarium without weighing it down dangerously. There have been no drops in brightness, and my snake seems to really enjoy it! This is a great light and I highly recommend it.

I have a redfoot tortoise and he's not able to stay outdoors in the winter. I can easily replicate the heat from the sun, but it is a little more difficult to replicate the UVA/UVB light provided by the sun.I've tried florescent lamps in the past, but I wanted to upgrade to LED. As you may or may not know, there are so many variables when it comes to caring for reptiles, especially non-native critters. The ReptiTrip lamp came with an instruction manual, and it included a lot of great info. It tells the UVA and UVB requirements for reptiles across every different zone (Ferguson zones). I have another similar light from a big name reptile supplier, and it had zero info beyond the overall light specs. The light has an in-line control to adjust the brightness and UVA lighting. It also has a timer which allows you to connect to an automated timer. I have mine connected to a digital timer, and it works like a charm.I don't have the equipment for measuring UVB or UVA output, so I'm assuming it's working as advertised. It has a screw on the top with a large head. My enclosure has a 0.5" x 0.5" inch wire mesh top, and I was able to secure the lamp using the screw against the wire mesh. I secured the cord to the mesh to the back of the lid and out to the timer.

I like some of the functionality of the light, such as 10% incremental brightness adjustments and the ability to increase or decrease the UVB intensity separate from the visible light brightness. It is also a very clean and aesthetically pleasing design. I have only had it a few days, so it is hard to rate the durability and lifespan, but it feels solid. The diameter size is also very comparable to many of your reptile dome lights, it is just shorter and flatter. My only complaint is the overall brightness. This product does not advertise any lumen rating to let you know what to expect. A typical 8W LED bulb will put out somewhere around 750 Lumens. I do not have a lumen meter but I have some 3W LED's that put out brighter light. I also know you lose some visible brightness to the UVB light, but you shouldn't lose this much. Unfortunately my phone camera keeps auto adjusting to make up for the dimness of the light and so all my pictures make it look brighter than it is in real life. In real life it is closer to more of a twilight brightness, just before dawn or dusk. It does illuminate the tank but not very brightly and it doesn't penetrate very deeply either. I think this would work okay for a smaller terrarium / vivarium that is maybe a 12" x 12" x 18" tall, but I would not go much bigger.

I got this light as a supplement to my main tank lighting. I have a bearded dragon and they need a cool and a warm side in their habitats. The cool side, since there are no lights for heat or UVA/B is rather dark. I got this lamp to out on top of the mesh to brighten it up in there a bit. There are still plenty of dark, shady areas for her to hide in if she wants. Her main lights are inside the enclosure so nothing blocks out what she needs, This light I got just for light for the most part - it isn't the right type for Beardies to be their sole source of UV light. It is about the size of a dessert plate so its not super huge and I attached it so the cats can't knock it down. This might be a great UV light for other reptiles but do your research to make sure it will provide enough of the right type of light for your critters - having the wrong kind can be very detrimental to their health! Join some groups on FB for your type of reptile if you aren't sure what types are good before you purchase something. Don't rely on the big chain pet stores - they may only have general knowledge about your animals needs. I found out the hard way that their starter kits need to be upgraded pretty much right out of the box when it comes to bearded dragons. Overall this is a nice light, and I love that brightness is adjustable and it has a timer. This could work for plants or fish tanks as well or even a nightlight if you want to get really clever!

So yeah this is a good uva and uvb light but there is no really easy way to mount it in the reptiles habitat, I mean you need to order a mount separately for it that will hold it inside the habitat or on the outside too .The control lighting is nice and it works fine, but that not having some sort of mount really bothers me, the price should constitute a mount or something bust it doesn’t…. So not I’m going to need to fabricate a mount for it or find something I can buy that will hold it inside our geckos homes….
