This ball head checks all the boxes: build quality, value, smoothness, compact design. Perfect balance of build and price. I used for my star tracker where I needed compactness but still didn’t want to get a cheap ballhead.

Bought this to replace the ballhead on a sirui 3T-35K tabletop tripod. It wasn’t as small as I’d hoped but I was still going to use it. Unfortunately the mounting hole thread was too short and wouldn’t screw all the way down. I considered keeping it because it fit another tripod of mine but I didn’t like the way the ballhead clamped down. Seemed like it would loosen over time.

I use this on a lightweight travel tripod. I got it because of the low profile, which lets me fit the tripod with ballhead attached in a little case that the tripod came with. A taller ballhead would not fit. This is a basic ballhead with any special features, and it is lacking a safety lock when releasing the plate. I have much beefier and better made ballheads for my bigger tripods. However, I have found this perfectly functional and use it for outdoor photography when I need to use a travel tripod with my camera and a lighweight lens for a long exposure. It's much better (and maybe less expensive) than many of the ballheads that manufacturers try to sell as part of a kit with their travel tripods.

Nothing to complain about here. All metal construction, very secure and solid. Mechanicals are smooth and well machined. Exactly what I needed. Might replace my Manfrotto but I prefer Manfrotto’s plate system more than Arca. But that’s not Neewer’s fault : )
