I purchased the Performance Tool W84603 Door Spring Tool to compress the spring for my Bobcat 753G skid loader safety bar. The tool worked great for compressing the spring to allow the safety bar to be removed to replace the interlock sensor. It also made it very easy to reinstall the bar with the tool holding the spring in the compressed state. I am sure it would useful for compressing other heavy duty springs and allowing you to control the release similar to what I had to do with the safety bar spring. Definitely was a lot safer than trying use a prybar or other method to compress the spring.

Great tool, I had to replace my roller pin on the drivers side door of my 1994 Silverado 1/2 ton Truck, This tool looked cheap out of the packaging but is well made really cranked the spring down to insert into place. Just watch when compressed the spring doesnt fly out and whack you. Please wear saftey glasses when compressing the spring with this tool. I didnt have it all the way into the "V"'s of the tool and the spring flew past my ear and heard it hit the driveway 50 foot away. I was lucky , it's a heavy spring that onced compressed is like a bullet in the chamber. Use caution and good luck, I cant see any other way to do the job, dont try Channel locks, Vice grips or watch any Jackass movies prior to using this tool to compress a heavy spring. Very happy all turned out well and no blood was spilled.

Work great one suggestion. Compress the spring in a vise the install the clamp. Much easier installation.

I saw all the bad reviews on this product and wasn't sure it would work but I'm glad i bought it. I saw the biggest problem is the tool bending when trying to compress the spring. So, I put the spring in the tool as close to the ends as I could, then put the tool in the vise to compress the spring. So the vise is actually compressing the spring and not the tool but the tool will hold it after you tighten up the bolt. Then install the spring and use a 1/2 wrench to loosen the bolt on the tool and you're done... PS: Wear safety glasses when doing this just in case....

Fit in the door spring easily. Works very easy to remove the spring without the danger of prying it out with a screwdriver or such.
