  • No, a Wi-Fi NVR typically cannot provide power to PoE IP cameras directly. PoE (Power over Ethernet) requires a wired connection. To power PoE IP cameras, We recommend purchasing Reolink PoE switch or injector in addition to the Wi-Fi NVR.

  • We strongly recommend using Reolink IP cameras exclusively with RLN12W for optimal performance and compatibility.

  • To unlock the full potential of this remarkable technology, a Wi-Fi 6 router is better recommended for enhanced networking.

  • This Wi-Fi NVR can work with up to 16 IP cameras (12*Wired IPC+4*Battery Wi-Fi IPC or 16*Battery Wi-Fi IPC).

I have now had the 16ch NVR and indoor/outdoor cameras long enough to write a review. I have used WiFi security cameras in my home in Costa Rica for years and all of them have been problematic. Most homes there are built like Roman fortresses and have issues with Wifi conductivity. After the companies tried to force everyone to the paid cloud I bought the RioLink system and have been 100% pleased conductivity is great even through concrete and they were very easy to set up. An added bonus is that the software is great and can be viewed from PC or mobile devices and it is reliable. Your recordings are stored on your site and not out in the cloud......great system.

Great product allows me to connect to all my real link wireless cameras and have it on one Central station with large recording capacity. A must-have if you want to monitor all your cameras and have a display attached

I've had this NVR for almost a year now. I'm using two of the Reolink Duo Floodlight WiFi cameras and the Reolink Doorbell WiFi Camera. As soon as I installed my cameras I knew that a direct connection to the NVR was not going to be possible. The connection was too poor. The camera on the back of my house is like 20ft away (conservatively) and it had no shot.I spent a lot of money trying to get a good connection from my cameras and nothing has worked. I was running Google WiFi Mesh with three different access points throughout the house. I specifically placed one access point as close as possible to the camera on my garage. The connection was still terrible. Since I couldn't turn off the 5ghz band on the Google system, I decided to switch to a TP-Link Deco Mesh system that would allow me to run exclusively on 2.4ghz in hopes that it would connect over a longer distance. As you can see in the picture, the connection is still terrible. The camera on my garage constantly lags behind. The connection will also randomly drop altogether for a few seconds every couple of minutes.I bought this unit and the cameras to go with it to replace Ring WiFi cameras that I had the exact same issue with. It's extremely frustrating that I'm having the same issues after spending probably close to $1000 (NVR, cameras, multiple routers) in hopes of resolving the connection issues. For reference, my phone stays connected all the way to the street and beyond, which is roughly 60ft from the nearest access point. The camera on my garage is about 15ft from the closest access point. My house is a regular suburban colonial. Most people I know have a single router that covers their entire house. I can't understand why a company would make and advertise a WiFi camera system that works so poorly under some of the most average circumstances. On top of all that:-The user interface for the NVR is atrocious. You basically need a computer science degree to use it. There are a million options and you will need to Google what every single one means because they offer no information on the UI.-The motion sensing takes a ton of tweaking to get right and even then it's still finicky.-The Android app will show you what and where is triggering the motion sensor, but the monitor I have connected to the NVR will not. Why? Whyyyyyyyy?-If ever you should try to manually input the WiFi information when connecting to a camera and get it wrong, you have lost the connection forever and you will have to uninstall the camera from wherever you have it set up and bring it to the NVR and connect it directly with an ethernet cable. You will also need a power supply for this if you are using WiFi cameras. Ask me how I know. If you have misplaced the adapter cable for the doorbell, you will have to order a power supply from Amazon because Reolink does not sell that on its website. Now for the positives:-It comes with a large hard drive and overwrites the oldest footage when it's full.-Compared to Ring it's great because it's always recording (as long as you have a connection lol).-I removed a star from my review when thinking about this because my only other positives are about the actual cameras.I don't know what the answer is, but I know it isn't this.

Works with outside wifi cameras that are near the center of the house (the NVR is in the center of the house), but can't "see" the far exterior corners of my 3000 Sq ft home. So for those I've had to run CAT 6 cables back to the LAN and then added those cameras to this NVR. I was a little surprised that the NVR gui shows 16 available channels since the unit is supposed to be a 12 channel device, but unfortunately it looks like 13-16 are not accessible. Rats! I thought I had made a real find! Seems to work well to control IOT devices linked to cameras by the NVR.

The case has the cheapest stick-on rubber feet imaginable. They fall off if you look at them wrong. Much more importantly the unit generates a fair amount of heat. A number of large heats sinks are inside the case but no air flow to speak of. Instead of Reolink adding an internal fan they provide a cooling fan opening on the side of the case even including holes for the fan mounting screws and a 12 volt connector for a fan but NO fan! Clearly they are aware that heat may be an issue but they don't care. The warmer/hotter electronics run the shorter the lifespan. I guess they figure you'll just buy from them again when it dies.

Reolink does not give the end user the ability to change WiFi settings other than the SSID and password. 2.4G WiFi consumes 80% of the available channels leaving only a limited choice of clean channels for routers, extenders and our close neighbors. The 5G uses a much smaller channel width. The NVR attempts to connect Reolink WiFi cameras to it's 5G network. I was able to connect my E1 Pro and TrackMix cameras easily to the NVR.I do not recommend this WiFi NVR for individuals who have several Smart Home devices using their 2.4G WiFi.

This NVR along with compatible Reolink cameras is a good step up for those who want a trouble-free experience that will work without cloud services or subscriptions. Having dabbled with other brands this NVR makes everything a little easier to manage. It works very well with Home Assistant (despite the dated documentation that says otherwise) and with a little bit of finagling you can add other ONVIF cameras too. The integrated 2TB HD doesn't hold a lot of data and is kind of noisy, but for the 4 cameras i have setup, it's perfectly adequate. As an aside, i chose not to use the WIFI capabilities of this NVR and opted to use my own APs and simply connect the NVR into the rest of the network.Pros:- works great with Reolink cameras- integrates with Home Assistant- can add additional ONVIF camerasCons:- Web UI is more functional that pretty (use the downloadable app if possible instead)- Wifi acts as standalone AP

I purchased the recorder to get away from the cloud. I have several Reolink cameras all wireless.. was hoping to put this NVR in the attic of my cottage to store data from the cameras. 1st thing you need to do out of the book it is hardwire it to your router... really. I have a very strong wifi signal all over the property, Really don't need another wireless signal. This is not the product for me or anyone else looking for wireless. It's going back.

UPDATE: Reolink customer service reached out to me and did a great job in helping me work through some of the issues I mentioned below. I updated the firmware on each camera by downloading them from the Reolink website and installing via the NVR USB port. The doorbell video loss notifications have been resolved after the firmware update. Thank you Ed and Sandy from Reolink Support.---This is a good NVR that comes with 2TB of disk storage built-in, and there is the option to replace the disk with up to a 16TB disk, which is nice. As others have mentioned, the NVR is a bit noisy, due to it probably having a spinning disk as opposed to a solid state one.I notice that the latest firmware update, that is available to download from the Reolink website adds support for USB keyboards, which is nice, as using the on-screen keyboard is cumbersome when entering complex passwords. When clicking the auto-update option, the message states that the NVR is on the latest firmware, which is not accurate, as there is a later version published on the website. The later firmware also adds support for the Reolink Wifi Extender, which I cannot find information about on Reolink's website, but I would be interested in testing this extender and comparing it to my current one.I currently have 4 Wifi cameras connected to this NVR, two are connected to the NVR's Wifi directly, and the other two are connected to my extender which I have acting as a repeater at the moment. My Reolink doorbell that is connected to this NVR suffers from video loss about 30-40 times per day despite having a strong Wifi signal (connected to my extender). I am hoping that the latest firmware updates for the NVR and doorbell will help resolve this.Another area to improve would be the camera configuration options that are available once cameras are connected to the NVR. Some options are not available, for example I returned the Atlas PT Ultra because the continuous recording option was not available when it was connected to the NVR, but I have read that this is also resolved in the NVR firmware update that has been released last week.Overall, I am happy with this NVR as it was easy to set up and it is easy to manage. If it had a stronger Wifi footprint, or config options to allow increasing the power of the Wifi broadcast, that would have resulted in a higher rating.

I have a love/hate relationship with Reolink. I have 4 of their POE bullet cameras and have had to deal with their tech support a few times. It's not a great experience. For the most part, their cameras work well, but they are a bit like Apple in that as long as you only want to do exactly what they tell you that you want to do, then they usually work pretty well. The Windows software works sometimes, but is lacking. The Android app is a little more limited and I have constant issues with notification consistencies. And the "AI" detection system is finicky. Also, the scheduling sometimes works and sometimes doesn't.So naturally, I thought I would try the hardware NVR to see if it was any better. And I have to say that, so far, it is. Maybe they intentionally make the software versions clunky to encourage people to buy their hardware, who knows. As soon as I turned this NVR on, it detected and added the cameras that I had on my network. Simple as pie. Note that this NVR does not have POE, so if you are using POE cameras, you will need your own injectors or a POE switch in between. Just plug one of your network cables from the POE switch to the "LAN PORT (for internet)" port and away you go.The 2tb included hard drive works well for storing videos and images with lots of space, but it can also easily be replaced with a larger drive if desired. The NVR also comes with a wired mouse and an HDMI cable for connecting to a monitor and controlling it. You can also access it remotely once it's set up.Finally, this NVR works with other cameras that support ONVIF protocol. Just add it to the network and get it's IP address, then manually add the camera to it. It's tricky though, because when you first add the camera, it will only allow you to add a camera as IP. You have to first go into Settings -> Network -> Advanced -> Port Settings and then select the RSTP/ONVIF checkboxes. When you go back to add the camera, you will have additional options.
