This skimmer takes turns work into joy after struggling for 40 years, using myriad inferior skimmers, to maintain a very large pool surrounded by most unsuitable trees: golden locust, oaks, liquid amber, spruce, black walnut and privet. The joy and appreciation is greater than that which I feel when starting the dishwasher after having spent even longer years bending over the kitchen sink. The reason? This skimmer’s frame is constructed of a soft rubber that seems to grab the pool’s plaster and tiles. It doesn’t bounce as you push to lift up the detritus on the bottom and the leaves caught along the pool edge, but moves smoothly with little effort. The flap at the bottom and, perhaps the nature of the net itself, keep the leaves from backwashing out while you noodle around in the deep. It’s also much more efficient at surface skimming — what goes in, doesn’t come out, which could hardly be said of other skimmers we’ve had. I think the special design of the rim may account for these virtues. The netting is super sturdy and up to dealing with the prickly live oak leaves, as well as large loads of wet leaves ( estimate close to a cubic foot, maybe five pounds in peak season). Bottom line, I would give up the dishwasher before giving up this skimmer. I think it will last for at least ten years, but just in case, my next move is to order a backup while it’s still available an at a goog price.

Good quality. Does the job well and would purchase it again. The net seems durable and doesn’t seem to get so weathered by the Sun

UPDATE: [11/14/2024]So, I'm almost 18 months into owning this Sepetrel Net and I've been pleasantly surprised at its durability. In my original review I expressed concern that the net's construction did not inspire confidence. Sometimes it's nice to be wrong. I still think this net is on the smaller side, but it works and has held up to regular use in a 25,000 gallon pool with an 11' deep end. I just wanted to be fair here and give credit for good quality where it is due. As I've said, it has gotten me by. My plan is to eventually purchase the ProTuff line of pool-cleaning equipment, which is incredibly well-made (my brother owns a set) and comes with a lifetime warranty and unlimited free replacements for things that break or wear-out. The ProTuff stuff is considerably more expensive, so I've gotten by with the much more affordable Sepetrel items. If you're budget conscious and not made-of-money, the Sepetrel line is good quality for a fair price (at least that has been my experience over nearly a year-and-a-half).ORIGINAL REVIEW:I bought both the brush and the net, but I am reviewing them separately. I'll review the net here. Like the brush, it's considerably smaller than I expected. It's my fault for not looking closely at the measurements of the net before I bought it. You snooze, you lose...The construction of the net doesn't inspire a great deal of confidence, but only time will tell. Most nets have a metal frame with the net fastened to the frame with rivets and a plastic or polymer frame rim cover. This one appears to be solid plastic or polymer, though it is possible that it has a wire or metal reinforcement of some kind embedded in it. Can't tell right now. The net itself seems is single-ply like most nets and the material seems similar to others. The net looks like it is hot-melted into the plastic frame and if it is I have no idea how that's going to hold up over time compared to regular pool nets. I'm concerned about abrasion resistance and how exposure to chlorine and other pool chemicals may affect the net. I won't know until I use it for awhile, so I will and then I'll update this review down the line.Altogether, with the smaller size of the net and the questionable construction of it, it's hard to be too happy about buying it. But my old net was worn out, so I'll see how this one does while I look for a high-quality, durable, reasonably-priced full-size pool net. This one definitely isn't that...

First, the main issue w/ pool cleaning nets is durability - usually the mesh net fails (gets holes) &/or the scooping edge fails (pieces wear or break off). It seems they all fail one way or the other in a couple of years; so why pay $40 if you can get one for $19 that works as well and last the same length of time. The Sepetrel net has the following attributes:1. The front lip is 17" - width, this is important for big pools. The wider the mouth the faster it is to do the cleaning;2. The front lip (scoop edge) is beveled and well constructed. Cleaning a plaster bottom pool is tough on nets - the sturdier the leading edge is the better;3. The mesh netting has good porosity - the holes are small enough to pick up most debris (bugs are tough, so I use a small tighter net for that when necessary), but the holes large enough to give rapid water drainage for faster cleaning;4. The netting appears to be made of strong material which = longevity. I will have more on "durability" in a few months;5. The net fits a standard pole perfectly and is lighter than most - important when you are extended out 10-12 feet;6. The net depth is 16" which gives good capacity in a single pass - too shallow requires more frequent dumping and too deep can made the load of debris (leafs, sticks, etc) to heavy;7. The price at $17 w/ free shipping and returns is a good value.

Don't usually leave reviews but this net has allowed me to pick up items from the bottom of the pool so easy. Love it

Initially works fine. But after 1 year the screw holding the net to the handle full off...I replaced it. Then after 2 years, the plastic frame surrounding the net developed big chips and cracks making it hard to use. I highly value lifetime and durability. This unit did not make the cut.

Durable strong extremely high quality… only down fall is no handle which it does state but no quality handle available to match this we used an extendable paint handle as it has the strength to drag through a pool
