I needed to replace some aging smoke detectors and these were well priced, easy to install and they work great. Remember, the element in smoke detectors has a finite life span. If you want to ensure your safety don't let using OLD smoke detectors result is a catastrophe.

They could have added a few more holes in the install plate. My home had a single gang electrical box and so I had to add one little hole. No complaint since it only took me 3 minutes to figure the location and drill the holes in 9 plates. The nine volt batteries that are included are only one year batteries so if you have hard to reach locations like my living room 14 foot ceiling be sure to purchase 5 year batteries so you don't have to drag you extension latter out in another twelve months.

I did not want to drill into my ceiling drywall, so I used the previous baseplate as a template and drilled 2 holes into the new baseplate. Worked perfectly!

The smoke alarms worked great. Very easy to install. Just remove the wires from the old one and replace it with the new ones. I did it one wire at the time and no issues at all.
