We needed to open a wall to install a 2’x2’ attic access door and I could see that electrical wiring was probably in the way of the cut to be done. Also, I wanted to cut the wallboard on the very edge of the stud on each side of the opening so the new access door frame would easily attach to studs on each side.This Stud finder not only showed the stud but very accurately picked the center of each stud for me, and it showed the electrical wiring and even a plumbing pipe.If you follow the directions for this device, you will be happy with it. BTW it cost a whole lot less than the one I bought previously. That one would not work with my new cell phone and even having to use a phone with a stud finder is a pain.So, for many dollars less, we got a stud finder that does all we need it to do and it is accurate, compact and easy to use.

It’s good at finding studs, I guess…but it doesn’t work any better than the ancient stud finder I’ve had for 15 years. Bought it to find wires in the wall…ineffective. Returned it quickly.

I did some research on the new stud finders out there and decided this item had all the functions I needed. Got the item quickly and started scanning the dry wall around our laundry room and was surprised at how precise and consistently this item shows where the studs are, as well as other obscured objects. Definitely a well built item, feels solid but not hefty.
