I almost didn’t buy this jar opener because of the negative reviews, saying it would not open a jar and it tore up the lid. However, I saw an elderly lady demonstrate this who does product review videos and it opened jars for her perfectly so I decided to go with her review. I really needed a jar opener because my arms are getting weak. I am very glad that I bought the Oxo one because it works just like it’s supposed to. It’s very easy to use as long as you keep it flat on the lid and slide it until it stops. Then you give it one easy turn in the direction of the arrow on the opener, and it opens the lid very easily. It has metal teeth on one side that may dig into a metal lid on one part, making a small jagged place, but I found it only did that on one lid. It did not tear up plastic lids. So that is the only negative thing I found and it’s something I will just watch out for. Also, I wish it was a little bit cheaper than $15 however, I am very happy with my Oxo jar opener.

This item works very well. The silicone pad holds the jar in place, while the top part securely grasps the lids with small metal teeth, and just enough leverage to loosen the lid. The design works with many, many different lid diameters. Excellent yet simple design. Ingenious!

It does what was advertised, I would have liked it to be a little wider. It struggles with bigger lids, which is what I bought it for, but it does open most of them.

OXO products generally are great, always practical and ergonomic. Bought this because I'm starting to get arthritis in my hands and it really works great, can open wide and narrow lids with little effort.

This jar opener works great. I have only run into one jar that was too big to open with it. It's easy to use and it's not flimsy. Highly recommend.

I bought this when my older OXO jar opener got misplaced. This is even better than the older one—the design has changed slightly, and they’ve added a little silicone mat that you can put under the jar to help keep it from sliding as you try to open it. It works like a charm by providing additional grip and leverage to loosen the jar lid without damaging it. I’ve only once encountered a jar that we could not open using this tool. It does still require some hand strength to hold the handle of the tool and keep the jar in place while you use the tool, so it may still be hard for someone with arthritis or very low hand strength (also could not be used one-handed).

The product itself is a nice product. It does what it states with ease. The trouble I had was it was order on January 4 as a Prime Member it didn't arrive until January 27. Good product poor service.

At first, this opener didn't work very well. But after a few tries, I learned that you have to make sure to push forward on the opener toward the lid at the same time you turn the handle. If you don't push forward, the teeth won't grab the lid & the tool will just slide around the lid. Also, place a silicone or thin rubber material around the jar to hold it in place with your other hand. Holding on to a glass jar is too slippery.

I bought 2 of these as gifts. Both recipients have reported back, with their gratitude fully intact, that the jar opener didn't do what it was supposed to. In fact, the metallic teeth, which are meant to grab onto the jar lids, ended up damaging the lids by scraping off the metal and/or paint.Sadly, the gifts have embarrassed me in public.

The is the only opener that works effectively and single handed for twist and screw top/lids. Simple to use, slide over firmly what you want to open and twist. I’m in my late 70s my bones are weak and I often fracture. This type of opener is perfect especially for one handed user.

Produit acheté il y a quelques années. Pas très pratique à utiliser. Il faut vraiment trouver le couvercle adapté sinon quand vous tournez l'ustensile dérape.
