When you go to screw down the handle there is not long enough thread on the seat part to get to. I should've ordered the OEM brand tool. Which I did. Thank God, I did. When it came in it worked perfectly.

I went to use this tool and had no luck in using it. It does not fit. The extra piece that increases height adjustment could not be used, which is needed to have the tool work properly. I tried to bend the main body that holds against the cam shaft but was not able to modify the body angle to utilize the additional height piece. I would not rate so low if I was able to use tool. It's just sitting in my tool box.

The problem is the base length. The base length is adjustable by unscrewing the top, but on the 5.4L, this makes it too short to compress the spring enough to get the clips back on. Taking the retainer clips off is not a problem (leave the base length at full length). It will compress the spring just fine to remove the clips, but when releasing the spring, you might be surprised at the end because you run out of thread when loosening the tool's nut--so the spring will jump the last half inch. That will only surprise you the first time.The problem is putting the everything back together: You have to manually physically compress the spring that first half inch while at the same time turning the NUT to catch the thread. After you catch the thread, you will be fine. But I'm a big guy with significantly more than the average person's strength and I could not compress the spring and turn the nut more than 90 degrees at a time, which was almost never enough to catch the thread! You have to do both at the same time and it is a two person job!What I did is put a 1 & 1/8th inch socket on the round nut (close enough fit) and I used a power ratchet to quickly spin the nut once I had compressed the spring far enough. But it is still a two person job because I can't hit the trigger on the ratchet while lifting the threaded stud peace with one hand and compressing the spring with the ratchet with my hand over the ratchet's head. Someone else has to at least hit the trigger on the ratchet.It is very inconvenient, especially when the entire problem could have been avoided with adding a half inch to the length of the nut. See Pictures. When fully compressed, it is only enough to minimally remove the retainer clips (that's why it will not work if you make the stem shorter). And the other picture shows the uncompressed spring, which also shows the half inch gap between the long nut and the threads on the stud. It's a stupid manufacturer mistake. A longer nut fixes all issues. They should make it about 2" long so that it is never an issue. I would not buy this again, look for one with a longer nut.
